Brewed with coffee from Red Rooster Coffee Roasters in Floyd, VA.

Pours very dark brown to nearly black with a dark tan head that becomes chunky as it it recedes, leaving some thick, sticky lacing.

The aroma shouts COFFEE! Backed up by a bit of sweet malt. Really GOOD coffee!

Predominately coffee in the taste as well. Surprise, Surprise. A little tart citrus and the bitterness of roasted coffee and malt round it out.

Rather full bodied. Creamy and thick with some acidic coffee burn in the throat. A bit drying.

Sure, the coffee predominates, but I thought this was a really good beer. My first Starr Hill sampling. The coffee impressed me as well. I'll have to make the 18 mile drive to Red Roosters to check them out.

12oz brown bottle, sample from the brewery.

Beautiful tan head, liquid is as black as night. Brash coffee nose, hints of dark chocolate and black currants. Lush smoothness with a little bump of crispness, fresh a bitter coffee flavor. Dark bread maltiness, charcoal and unsweetened chocolate on the palate. While the coffee is bold it does not go overboard. Bitter-sweet finish. Very well done, love the use of coffee and it even stays within the Cream Stout style. (467 characters)

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass.
Aroma- It smells like I am smelling my coffee pot! A very strong and nice smelling coffee aroma.
Appearance- Uhhmm, did I mention coffee? with a light brown head. really nice looking.
Taste- Whoa, coffee and malt. I really like the flavor.
Palate- A medium to heavy body with real light carbonation.
Overall- I am new to the Milk Stout style and this is a great awakening for me. I really enjoyed it. (450 characters)

Surprisingly good: Was worried about the possibility of this being overly bitter, but even though the coffee note was very prominent, I actually thought it was pretty easy drinking. This isn't to suggest there wasn't any bitterness, but it seemed well balanced. I'm assuming this had some sweetness, given the fact that the bitterness wasn't extreme, but what was there wasn't overwhelmingly present/front-&-center to me.

Pours a dark black color with a fair dark head. Coffee very forward in the nose. I thought the feel was fairly thick and oily and again, pretty easy drinking. (586 characters)
