Had it at a party in a bottle the first time, and it was delicious. unlike other fruity ipas, it was more sweet than bitter. Starts with a wonderful blonde hoppiness and finishes with a clean orange citrus taste, almost a little sweet too. Later got a pitcher and most of my friends (who aren't too keep on anything IPA) loved it.

Starr Hill Brewery "Whiter Shade White IPA"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle, "PKG ON 08/01/16F" and sampled on 11/12/16
Appearance: Clear golden body beneath a frothy head of bright white. Good head retention and lacing.
Aroma: Pine, malt, orange, peppery spice.
Flavor: Same as the aroma. The pine and pepper combine with the solid bitterness to bring it to a very dry finish. The orange combines with a little bit of the sweetness of the bready malt to become a bit like orange marmalade; overall it's soft though, and not sharply citrusy.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a standard to slightly elevated carbonation level.
Overall: Interesting. I initially though "Witbier? No, I get more of a saison character (the peppery yeast)". And then, "Oh, there's the IPA. Wow, it really is a good blend of styles". And it is. It's somehow really nicely wrapped up and grouped together with each of its components appearing on their own, and at other times lending support to the others. I did find it a little bitter with the peppery spice adding to it, but that's probably just me, and without it maybe it might not hit that IPA side completely.

Pours a clear shade of gold with a white head about a finger thick. Smells of citrus and pine with a little pepper. Flavor follows, white grapefruit, pine, solid malt backbone. Smooth feel to it, finishes cleanly. Very nice beer, quite solid.

Pours crystal clear and golden in color with a 4 finger head, in my weizen glass, that becomes chunky as it recedes, leaving plenty of sticky lacing.
Banana and clove dominate immediately after the pour, but later on, it's very hop forward, with woodsy pine almost obscuring the banana clove aroma of the wheat A bit on the musty/earthy side.
The tart wheat/kicked up hop combo gives a taste of grapefruit and pine with a peppery backbone, rounded out by sweet malts with spiced citrus. Bitter early, but mellows out nicely in the end.
Medium to medium+ in body. Rather smooth overall with a rather light bite of carbonation. Rather syrupy and retentive. Lightly warming.
Different and unusual at first, becoming a bit odd, but still interesting in the middle, and pleasing and well rounded in the end. A great beer!
