Stopped in on one of my many business trips down to thee Lauderdale area.

This is a pretty solid Total Wine along the line of the many others that are popping up all over Florida. The wine selection is massive but who cares lets talk beer.

The beer is all the way in the back. Singles lines the far back wall. Great selection from breweries from all over including Cigar City, Stone, Full Sail, Terrapin etc. Just about every country is also represented in some way on clearly marked shelves. They are also delineated by beer type. Nice job on the merchandising. Mix and match to your hearts content.

If you are standing looking at the back wall to your left you will see bulk beer to be purchased. The row to your left in front has seasonal selections in singles and bombers and is worth a look. I found some of CCB's at times elusive bombers there like Papaya and Big Sound.

Spent just a minute talking to one associate and he was very attentive and knew enough about the Big Sound to say you will love that of you love some mocha flavor in your beer.

This is well worth a stop if your down in Lauderdale. Bonus in the plaza is many food joints so go grab a few beers and go to Five Guys and get a greasy burger and bag of fries.

The best beer store in Fort Lauderdale, period. Obviously they also have a huge selection of wine and spirits, but they have pretty much the largest and most extensive beer selection in the area. They also have the best prices and the staff is very helpful. This is also my go-to store for buying craft beer. I am lucky to live around the corner from here...

After having dinner at the Mexican restaurant a couple doors down, we wanted to pick up some beers to take back to the hotel room while we lounged at the rooftop pool or on our hotel balcony. Unfortunatley, this is about the only place anywhere near our hotel that had any decent selection. I must admit, the selection at Total Wine is always pretty good. The service is always pretty bad, and the beer freshness is usually pretty bad. I was disappointed that there wasnt more local stuff. I found about 4 beers from Cigar City but that was about it as far as Florida beers go. We picked up sixers of Jai Alai and Coconut Porter from Kona. Both beers seemed fresh and tasted pretty damn good. Since this is the only place in the general area, this is pretty much your only option for decent beer :(

Stopped by here immediately after being picked up from the airport. It is in a strip mall and almost looks like a grocery store based on its size. Beer is in the back on the left. There was a nice selection of 12 oz singles. It had a good selection of bombers and Belgians in 750s. The organization is a little odd. I felt like I kept stumbling across things that should have been other places. Unfortunately, there wasn't a lot of beer in coolers. For someone visiting that isn't from the South there were quite a few regional selections and East Coast beers that I was happy to find. The prices were reasonable. I expected it to be higher because it seems everything is more expensive on the coasts. It was a worthwhile place to visit so I could have some bottles to drink when I wasn't going out at night.

This is a rather typical decent Total Wine. A god selection of Cigar City coupled with plenty of national brands like Stone and a good import mix. Singles, sixers and cases are all available. I was looking for a beer for the room so I headed for the cooler, which had a nice selection of Clown Shoes beers, for whatever reason. I picked up a nice RIS and headed back to my hotel.

When I am traveling, I am typically hoping to find some nice bottles to check in my luggage or ship home. Having been to this TW last spring, and finding the beer scene here to be improving but with a long way to go, I did not expect to find anything that wowed me (we get CCB at home or I'd have grabbed some) and I was not disappointed.

Not worth going out of your way for but if you need a beer in FLL, you will find something to your liking here.

This is my go-to beer store. The beer selection is all the way in the back. They have a really good selection (as good of a variety that you'll find in South Florida). They seem to get all of the Cigar City seasonal releases which makes me happy. The prices are very reasonable. Every so often I will come across expired beers, but that isn't necessarily Total Wine's fault. Many west coast beers, especially Stone, seem to be expired all throughout Florida. Overall, the best beer store in my area.

was last here back in August...picked up 3 beers gifts for myself to enjoy in the coming days. one of them, upon cracking open, was completely flat and had lost all carbonation. i called back to ask about the possibility of exchanging it, and i got an attitude from management. they must have assumed i tasted and didn't like the brew, and wanted to get money back or try something else. that being said, the one taste of this totally flattened stout that i sipped was actually better than a macro on a good day so it definitely wasn't that.

anyway, when you spend $12 for a bottle of beer you want it to be in good drinkable condition just saying...

aside from that, i've been to this store many times in the past years. recently, the selection seems to have diminished somewhat but its still a good source of more crafty labels if you're in the area. prices are fair for the quality stuff.

all things considered, the boca raton location is nicer, more space, and more selection. if you're located in between the two, as i am....head north to boca.

Stopped by this place on a recent trip to Ft. Lauderdale. It was literally a five minute walk from the Embassy Suites.

This place is apparently a chain of higher end wine stores but I've never been in one before. Very clean and well organized with a very impressive selection. When you walk in the front door the beer is toward the back in two sections. Sick packs and cases to the left and a large selection of singles on the back wall.

The service was okay but it was close to closing time so I got the quick do you need any help treatment which I never mind.

The selection was very impressive with a wide variety of domestc craft as well as great representation of international beers. Germany, Belgium, Scandinavia, Japan, Italy, etc. all covered. The American craft selection was the most impressive with a bunch if FL breweries including a bunch if CCB beers. They had Vuja De, Either, Or, Maduro, Jai Alai, Improvisacion. In addition a bunch from Pike, Full Sail, Laughing Dog, Chimay, Weihenstephaner, Hitachino, etc. Very nice.

Overall, I was very happy with this place and would recommend it to anyone shopping for bottles in the area. Great selection, reasonable prices and even a few nice pieces of glassware.

This is my usual haunt if I'm looking for craft beer. They have a great selection of craft beer and all of the other big name brands. If there is something in the local distributors portfolio than I am looking for, they are willing to special order it If I'm not available to buy it in store.

My only suggestion for the store is to try and hold more beer tastings. It seems they concentrate more on the wine aspect. With a name like total wine? If only it was changed to Total Beer. How great would that be!!

The service has always been great and I'll be coming back just for that aspect of my visits.

I stopped in while on vacation in Florida. Total Wine is located in a large shopping plaza just down the street from the cruise ships. It's a large establishment with a pretty good stock of craft beer including both six packs and plenty of singles. The selection is a bit limited by what's available in Florida but it's got a number of solid US and European beers including DFH, Sierra Nevada, Stone and Rogue.

It's certainly worth a visit if you're in the area and looking to stock up (especially for a cruise or a beach vacation).

With a wide storefront, the entry was to the far right. We transited up a long aisle with cases and 6-packs to the left. Cold beer and wine was to the extreme left. Wide clear waxed aisles, well-lit. Case selection was minimal. 6 & 4-pack selection was decent. Single BTs and CNs were along back wall and as a PA resident, I wept. From left to right, craft beer followed by imported beer, then ciders and the other stuff. A fantastic wine selection. Cigar humidor. Sheesh. Why is PA so gnarly with their liquor laws?

I visited this place last week while staying overnight in Ft. Lauderdale prior to taking a cruise (this store was easy walking distance from my hotel).

This was located in a medium-large shopping center so there was a lot of convenient parking. Upon entering, it was clear that the beer ran front to back down the left hand side of the store. There was a decent but high quality selection of warm beers in 6 & 12 packs. There was also a great selection of high end American and import beers in wall coolers near the back. I was pleased to also see some single bottle/can offerings. Not a huge selection of singles, but again a quality one. While in the store I picked up a 750ml of St. Somewhere, a 750ml of Duchess de Bourgogne, and a few assorted singles from Oskar Blues. I could easily have spent more time and dropped way more money in this store but my capacity to get beer into my suitcase limited me.

Prices were very fair. Service was OK, but nothing to write home about either. The clerk in the front had a hard time figuring out how to ring up the single cans I had selected.

Overall a great store that I would be happy to have in my neighborhood! I will definitely be visiting this place again on my next trip to Ft. Lauderdale.

This is pretty much the same as the Pembroke Pines location which was fine for me. I did, however, find that the location of the beer in this store to be much more convenient. It was roomier and spread out a bit more. The staff was just as helpful, a little more in fact. As I was checking out, the cashier made a couple of comments on what I was buying. Since he wasn't busy we got into a conversation on the different styles we liked and he actually had someone watch his register while he took me back and made some suggestions (good ones might I add) on what else to get. That's above and beyond service.

some awesome stuff, like stone coast, left hand, extended sierra nevada selection, lots of belgians, brits, germans, "island exotics", etc!

love the ability to buy single bottles, so that if you're not sure what you're getting into, an entire six-pack does not need to be purchased. given the great quantity of items, it really is helpful!

i'd also point out that everything is priced and staff was fairly helpful. will definitely return when I am in the area and will highly recommend it to anyone visiting!

Total Wine is what it is. A store with a pretty decent selection at pretty damn good prices that are pretty hard to beat. You are not going to find any hard to find rare offerings, but they do carry most of the basics from the big breweries and some of the smaller locals at very reasonable prices. Most of the employees working there no nothing about beer, but the store is always clean and the isles are typically well stocked. Overall, Total Wine is no where near the best store in town but it is easy and convenient especially if you know what you want going in to it. As mentioned, don't go in looking for stuff you have never seen before, but it is a nice place to stock up with the essentials.

On a side note, make sure to check the dates on the bottles (if applicable) because I have noticed some beers on the shelves that are past their "best by" date.

Stopped here while I was in the area. Not substantively different from the North Miami location. Damn near the same....in fact, I think the North Miami location might be a bit better. I found a good bargain on Ommegang Witte and bought it. Other than that, selection and quality was decent, but I saw absolutely nothing that I had to have. You can find your typical array of easy-to-find Belgian standards, with a decent, if unremarkable, selection of American crafts. OK if in the area, but NOT worth a special trip. There are, however, some good prices to be had, so it might be worth a bargain-hunting stop.

I had to rate this Total Wine much lower than the one here in Jax. It was kind of disappointing due to the lack of staff. It also had boxes of alcohol everywhere in the aisles, one even to the point where I had to go back the way I came to get to the next aisle b/c you could not go around it. I prefer the lay out in the Jax location as well. Also, I didn't find much of the typical brews found in Florida, but they could have been still in boxes as some shelves were empty. That being said, Total Wine is still a great place to purchase beer or liquor, probably wine as well, though I'm not a wine drinker. The price is very reasonable and the selection is usually great. This store looked as if it was newly opened which it hasn't been, but I'm not going to give it a terrible score, just not what a typical Total Wine deserves. Hopefully they get it up to par so those in Ft. Lauderdale has a great Total Wine location.

Okay, this was my first experience with Total Wine, which apparently is a chain. I had just seen an ad for its grand opening and figured I'd check it out. I have to say I was very impressed, it's a very large, very well organized, clean, modern liquor store. One of the better selections overall (beer, wine and liquor) that I've seen, and I've seen some pretty good selections. That being said, I felt like there were probably some glaring omissions from the shelves in certain styles of beer (some of which show up in their circular leading me to think the store may just have been out or not fully stocked yet) . Really nice selection, quite a few beers available as singles. They advertise that they have a thousand beers, I find that somewhat suspect, but it is a pretty good selection nonetheless. On a Saturday afternoon, they were quite busy, I was asked if I needed help (I didn't), but it took a while to get through the checkout (not particularly more than would be expected given the number of people, but the cashier didn't know how to ring up a bottle by hand because the scanner couldn't read a label and had to wait for a manager). I can't say the service was bad, but I wont say it was exceptional either. I thought the prices were very reasonable compared to what I'm paying elsewhere. Some singles were cheaper than at Target, so that makes me think it was fairly reasonable by liquor store standards. Looks like they buy in bulk, so they should be picking up some discounts and hopefully passing them on. An exceptional liquor store by Florida standards overall. I would even say worth going out of the way for.
UPDATE: BUYER BEWARE: Total Wine has a lot of out of date beer, especially in the singles section which seems to be a dumping ground for it. A complaint to corporate headquarters was eventually responded to saying that it was unacceptable to have out of date product on the shelves and it will be removed. Check expiration dates carefully.
