A traditional and true English mild session ale. A rich, malty profile is punctuated by hints of hop flavor and aroma. A complex, understated fruitiness makes the signature statement.

Poured a clear well filtered brown color with a nice malt aroma and taste. Mouth feel dropped off some. A pleasant alternative to the over hopped craze.

Pint on tap at their South Portland brewpub.
Appearance: Kind of lame looking. No head at all, no lacing, pretty much completely flat. Sort of looks like iced tea.
Aroma: Sweet malt, nuttiness, standard brown ale aromas.
Taste: Nice, reasonably rich nutty, malty flavor with some caramel backing. Pretty tasty. Better than Newcastle, which is the measuring stick for the style, I think.
Mouthfeel: Medium to somewhat light for style.
Overall: This beer looked pathetic, but it more or less made up for it nice malt flavor. An OK beer for a chilly autumn afternoon.

Sampled on tap at the Sea Dog Pub in South Portland, Maine on August 19, 2014.
Brown in color with a modest off-white head and good clarity.
Big caramel malty and nutty aromas with a yeast sensation. Could be Ringwood. That is what it reminds me of.
Medium to above medium body.
Otherwise this is a fairly typical sweet malty and nutty brown ale.
