Fruity beers are my thang and this is one of the fruitiest beers I've ever had. It's one of my favorites. It smells and tastes just like it's name, there is no mistaking the apricot. If you aren't a fan of fruity or dessert beers, this probably won't tickle your fancy at all...but if you do, you'll find this one pretty darn delightful. (337 characters)

apperance- A very nice haze golden color

Smell- Just like opening a jar of apricot jam

Taste- I loved this taste. Not to sweet and very crisp. A nice ale for a summer day.

Mouthfeel- nice crisp taste with a little bit of apricot at the end.

Drinkability- I loved this ale. This is a ale I would have on tap for a summer party and I think everyone would enjoy. I Put this at the top of my list for summer ales.

This fruit ale came recomended to me by Shangy's (474 characters)

This beer pours a clear, bright yellow with a thin head and no lace. The aroma is of apricot, dough and lemonade. The flavor is apricot. There are notes of lemon and malt sweetness. The apricot is foremost but not overwhelming. The mouthfeel is light and bubbly. Sea Dog apricot Wheat Beer is a good beer, light, refreshing and very drinkable, recommended. (356 characters)

appearance - Poured a golden color with nice white head that mellowed out.

smell - Apricot, peach, sweet fruits.

tste - Apricot present here some sweet fruits like peach. Some lemon present.

mouthfeel - medium body.

drinkability - For me it was a nice beer. I read a few reviews that said it was beer with some juice. I can see that. It was refreshing beer, and tastey, nice summer time beer. I don't like most fruit beers, but I liked this one. (453 characters)

We paired this beer with our Shrimp Po'Boys with peach, mango salsa. The beer was perfect for our intention, to compliment the salsa and tone down the spiciness of the shrimp. I would definitely recommend pairing this bear with similar summer style salsas but would limit my consumption to one of two beers, the flavor can begin to overtake the flavor of the food. (364 characters)

Pours a clear golden like color with a slight head which gives way to no lacing. The aroma is of apricot and is strong and very sweet along with some floral aromas. The taste is of a sweet malt backbone and sweet almost candied apricot. The mouthfeel is low to moderate carbonation. Overall it is a very nice summer beer, the taste is slightly articifical but it is still inviting a easy to drink. (397 characters)

I tolerate this style better than most beer drinkers. I love a change of pace with a little fruit but still having a great beer taste. This is pretty typical of fruit beers.

The color is weak and beer like. It is pretty clear. The aroma is a distinct sweet (apricot) smell, with beer.

The taste works, is is a great blend of fruit with wheat ale. The aftertaste is odd, but appropriate. Beer plus fruit. Overall, this is like manhy others. I have several other Sea Dogs to try this week. I hope I don't get sick of them. (523 characters)

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of sweet apricots. Taste is also dominated by apricots, not much else going on. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and is very drinkable. Overall this is a different and enjoyable brew. (268 characters)

I am very impressed a fruit concoction that is not an Ale!

A- A tint darker than traditional American Lagers. Transparent medium orange with hues of yellow.

S- Very fruity! Very apricot!

T- First and foremost Apricots. Then the wheat sets in and a very nice finish

M- Very light not full or filling.

D- Drinkability is good. Very nice, I like beers that actually taste like the fruits that they are made from, without being malty.

I would recommend this beer to those who like fruity beers not for those who like slight tint of fruit in their Ales. (567 characters)

Poured from bottle into a pint glass

Appearance – The beer pours a clear golden amber color with a one finger head of fizzy white foam and tons of carbonation bubbles seen streaming up through the brew. The head fades quite fast leaving only a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – A strong peach and apricot aroma is the bulk of the smell. These are combined with a bit of a wheaty and grassy smell producing a nice sweet, fruity aroma overall.

Taste – The taste begins with a wheat bread and apricot flavor right from the start. These flavors create a base for the brew with the wheat remaining relative constant and the apricot gaining strength as the flavor advances. Along with the slight increase in the apricot, comes some flavors of a peach nature, accentuating the fruity nature of the brew as the taste advances. A very light grassy flavor joins the taste at the end of the flavor profile, leaving one with a medium sweet, but rather crisp, fruity apricot and peach flavor, to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thinner side with a carbonation level that is on the slightly higher side. Both are fantastic for the fruity flavors of the brew and make for a very refreshing and more crisp brew overall.

Overall – A not overly sweet and quite drinkable apricot ale. Rather refreshing and easy drinking. (1,377 characters)

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a mini snifter, no head to speak of. Heavy carbonation at the begining subsiding to a light bubble. Smells of peach jolly ranchers. Crisp, refreshing apricot flavor, well balanced with the alcohol, you can still taste the base ale. Light mouthfeel is clean and enjoyable. Very drinkable, would be very refreshing on a summer day. (364 characters)

A- Solid gold with a head that is gone in no time.

S- I really liked the aroma. The apricot is very sweet smelling without going overboard.

T- Apricot taste immediately but doesn't hold and give way to a a dull wheat taste.

M- Smooth with a good level of carbonation.

D- I can say Okay, nice change of pace but nothing I'd look for. It looks as though I appreciated more that most. (386 characters)

I poured this strange brew into my tumbler at 50 degrees. The beer was a pretty blond with a white head that was nice and bubly at first then quickly disapeareed. The beer had a nice fruitty smell that smelled like shampoo or something. Very herbal. The tase was certainly apricote pretty sweet for my tase but very nteresting. It was a fun taste bud treat and I think would be a great summertime beer if you were just haveing one beer. I will not buy again but you should try it. (480 characters)

Orangey, gold, coppery color with nothing resembling a head.

Has a nice gentle smell. Apricot scent is obvious, but subdued and not overbearing like a lot of other fruit beers.

Taste is similar, it's sweet and fruity but not so much that it's disgusting.

Feels good in the mouth. Crisp and refreshing, with a splash of sweet in the finish.

Hides the 4.8% ABV very well. Goes down easy, very drinkable. (406 characters)

Sea Dog Apricot Wheat Beer pours a light to medium yellow with a fluffy white head. Wow, you can really smell the apricot. Taste is initially dominated by the apricot, but quickly segues into the wheat flavor. Pretty decent, definitely worth a try if you like this sort of beer. (278 characters)

138 calories per bottle at 4.6% ABV. The initial smell is very strong apricot but not too much to be unsatisfying. The taste is buttery with a medium compliment of apricot but the aftertaste is quite different - I get a sense of old warm apricot. That's the main thing that has me rank this so low. I could probably drink this 5 straight before getting sick and might try again sometime, it's just not a real favorite in my personal opinion. The buttery popcorn taste might be the reason? unsure... (498 characters)

Burnished brassy gold, not nearly orange enough to be considered apricot. The head is the color of week old newspaper and is too airysoft to hang around very long or to leave much lace. The beer itself looks decent, but the cap is of poor quality.

I smelled apricots as soon as the first ounce of beer splashed into the glass. I was impressed with the natural blueberry aroma of Sea Dog Blue Paw Wheat and I'm no less impressed with this one. Even though apricots are far from my favorite fruit, I recognize a good fruit beer nose when I smell one. It's freshly fruity and a trifle wheaty while still being recognizable as beer.

The flavor is of lesser quality than the nose, but is still acceptably good. Like Blue Paw, there's very little wheat ale character to the beer. Using a hefty quantity of wheat is, no doubt, simply a means of keeping the flavor contribution from malt at a minimum in order to allow the fruitiness to shine. It's also a way to keep the body light and summery.

Part of the reason why I'm not overly thrilled with Apricot Wheat is, again, my lack of love for apricots. There's nothing inherently wrong with the natural fruit flavor though and if you're an apricot lover, this should be a more than enjoyable beer. Even though I don't appreciate hops per se, there is a nice, balancing bitterness that is especially noted on the lightly crisp finish.

The body/mouthfeel isn't as soft as it is in many wheat ales. It is, however, light-medium and is carbonated enough to fit the blueprint for easy drinking summer beer. I can't imagine that anyone who likes the flavor will have much problem with the mouthfeel.

I have a feeling that this beer uses the exact same wheat ale base as Blue Paw does, simply substituting apricots for blueberries. There's nothing wrong with that since both are decent, drinkable examples of the style. If I was a Maineiac, I doubt that I'd buy Apricot Wheat all that often, if at all, but this bottle was enjoyable enough. (1,990 characters)

Sitting in Jax Fifth in Orlando, enjoying this brew in the cool breeze, quaffing on a seadog with the wifey – she really dug this brew. I thought it was above average, but the clear and filtered look disappointed me – I like the hazy look for wheats.

But an apricot orange pour, aroma of apricot, and a taste of apricot. Slightly cloying after a pint, but not enough to stop the wife from a second pint. It did finish sharp and tangy, which cuts the sweet taste. I’d say this would be a great cross-over for craft newbies (527 characters)

Pours with a promising white head which completely disappears seconds later...very clear, orange color...Smells of apricots, peaches...Typical fruit beer with a slight wheat taste...very light and crisp and refreshing on a very hot summer day...beyond that, nothing too exciting and fairly typical for a fruit beer... (317 characters)

Sampled tonight on 2/2/14 though I tried it once back in 2012. Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees in my beer cooler and poured into a classic pilsner flute glass.

Pours a clear golden yellow in color with tiny bubbles on the side of the glass. Just a small thin white head is seen with some very light spotty lacing as well. The aroma is faint of apricot and wheat, and not as fragrant as say a 'Pyramid Apricot' which is full of aroma & flavor. The taste of apricot is there but not overpowering and same with the wheat taste. Light and refreshing that leaves your tongue and mouth tingling some due to the high carbonation. (625 characters)

Sea Dog- Apricot Wheat

Appearance- Golden orange with no head.
Smell- Strong apricot. Nothing else.
Taste- Big apricot flavor with a touch of wheat/ straw.
Mouthfeel- Very sweet and crisp.

Overall- Not much to say here, it tastes of Apricots. Not bad tasting but 1 is enough. This is a desert beer, or a beer for girlie girls. (337 characters)

A - Golden pour with a beige foam that shrinks quickly.

S - Smells like fresh apricots, though after a while it does seem like the scent of artificial flavoring.

T - Tastes like a light drinking ale with some fruit flavor. A bit gimmicky, but pleasant anyway.

M - Easy to drink and feel slight. But the sugary fruit flavor would make me want to try aomething else.

O - This would be a fun beer for people who are wine cooler\cocktail drinkers and you wanted to offer beer. I get that the craft community would find this as a bad attempt at a fruit beer, but I thought it was okay. (584 characters)

12 oz bottle pours a hazed gold color with a small, rapidly diminishing white head. Not much retention or lace.

Nose smells exactly like those sugar coated Haribo gummi peaches. Isnt necessarily a bad thing, those candies smell freaking delicious...though artificial as hell.

Taste is a little more beery, with a light grain bill fleshing out some serious dried apricot flavor. Pretty tasty actually...kind of like a Nehi Peach soda blended with a crisp American Wheat. Not sure if Id buy it again, but I enjoyed my 12 oz sample well enough. (543 characters)

Pours Golden. No head or lacing. Lots of bubbles. Smell is all apricot. Body is thin and carbonated. Taste is sweet like a wine cooler, and like the smell all apricot. It is what it is. Not bad if your looking for somthing light and fruity. Not a session beer for me. (267 characters)

Draught @ So. Portland Pub: This one ours a clear golden color. There was almost no head: just a wisp of a white head. There was no lacing. The aroma is lighter. Faint apricot and wheat. Apricot taste, but not overpowering. Wheat in background. Refreshing. (256 characters)
