Poured from bottle into a pint glass

Appearance – The beer pours a golden amber color with a two finger head of fizzy white foam. The head fades quite fast leaving only a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – As may be expected, the beer’s aroma is big of a nice blueberry smell. The blueberry, while strong is not artificial, but actually smells rather authentic of blueberries. This blueberry aroma is mixed with some aromas of a light wheaty nature as well as a bit of a floral smell, with the overall aroma being very sweet and fruity.

Taste – The taste begins much drier then the nose would have suggested. It begins with a semi-sweet blueberry flavor mixed with a decent sum of a wheaty flavor. These two flavors create a base for the brew, both remaining relatively constant throughout the flavor profile. As the flavor advances some light earthy and floral notes come to the tongue along with some more grainy like tastes. At the end of the taste, a grassy flavor comes to the tongue, leaving a rather interesting blueberry in a field (wheat/grass/hay like) flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is rather thin and light with a carbonation level that is rather high. Both are quite nice for the style and make for a more crisp and refreshing brew, which match well the wheat and fruit flavors of the brew.

Overall – A rather easy drinking fruit beer. It is nothing outstanding, but in terms of making for a not overly sweet, but moderately blueberry fruited flavored brew, this one has it right. Not too bad.

Straw colored pour, minimal white head, minimal lacing.

Blueberries are the most prominent aroma here with typical wheat beer properties.

While on the sweet side, there is a time and a place to enjoy this blueberry bomb of a wheat beer. SDBWA is a nice Summer beverage when you want something light and refreshing.

Mouthfeel relatively thin, lots of carbonation.

Guilty of enjoying this one every once in a while: nothing stellar, but a nice change of pace. Some find the blueberry flavor artificial, but I think it is pleasant and worth trying once or twice.

A: Pours a light copper with a small white head.

S: Nose is loaded with blueberries, and a touch of wheat.

T: Strong wheat backbone, with solid blueberry overtones and a decent malty finish. A bit tart.

M: Medium bodied and on the smooth side.

O: Pretty good. Not as dry as their raspberry beer, but I think that's more apt for the blueberry admixture. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes fruit infused wheat beers.

Appearance is a dark straw with a half finger of fizzy head. The nose has distinct blueberry notes. Blueberries are upfront in the flavor profile as well. The finish is slightly tarty and slightly sweet from the fruit. The wheat is hardly discernible throughout.

This would be a great beer to serve with a summer brunch featuring blueberry pancakes.

Pours translucent gold with faint white head that quickly disappears and leaves very little lace.

Smell is of grainy malt, blueberry and faint biscuity bread.

Taste is earthy, grainy malt with blueberry added.

Mouthfeel is water and light bodied with medium carbonation.

Somewhat disappointing. Watered down and thin. The blueberry flavor comes across as artificial.

Appearance: Cloudy Orange/amber with moderate foam and decent lacing.

Smell: Blueberry muffin. The blueberry is very strong and lingers in the air even after the beer is gone.

Taste: Wheat, malt, and blueberry.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, very little aftertaste.

The Verdict: Not bad. While the blueberry aroma is over the top, the taste is actually muted. This may be the best blueberry brew I’ve had, though the bar is admittedly low.

*PRO TIP: A shot of berry flavored vodka gives it a really nice kick. **This may be one of the best uses of berry flavored vodka.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle marked 1004-0804. Sampled on September 5, 2013.

It has a slightly cloudy pale yellow pour with a white head the erupts at first but settles down in seconds.

On the nose there are plenty of fresh Maine blueberries but at the same time the wheat is a bit more forward than some of their other fruity-wheat ale. Yeast and bitter also in the aroma.

Light to medium body.

In the taste there is also a good blueberry note but then I get something else akin to pale and wheat malts. But none of that is front and center. It is more subdued but noticeable. For a fruit beer this is not bad.

Surprise find at Trader Joes!

This poured a nice golden tan color.

The blueberry aroma strikes you at first, gently, with a delicate note of fresh aroma. The flavor has a nice blueberry note to it. It’s crisp with a sweet tinge and a pleasing carbonation. Not sure where the wheat comes from--hefe?--as it's more of a flavored blonde ale. Still, I’d have another on a summer day.

Was quite impressed by this beer, took me by surprise. Tastes like a liquid blueberry muffin. Strong blueberry flavor up front followed by a biscuit/bread flavor at the end. Definitely will buy again and look forward to trying Sea Dog's other fruit beers.

12oz pour on-tap

light and airy wheat with a hint of blueberry that expands to dominate the aftertaste at times. the smell is heavy on blueberry as well. its got sweet malt, not too sweet, but not much for hops. feel is okay, pretty average on the whole here.

nice easy drinking fruit beer, good intro beer for people not into craft brew

I cant explain it with this beer. I don't usually care for fruit beers in general, but there is just something about this beer that I very much enjoy. Its ALL about the blueberry with this beer. Its very much the dominating flavor. If given the chance try this beer ice cold on a hot day.

Another offering from Sea Dog - this one, their Wild Blueberry...I found it a bit better than their Raspberry.

The beer wasn't as sweet or overpowering than the raspberry offering. Although it wasn't much to look at or feel, it was good. Unlike the raspberry, which tasted more like a wine cooler than anything else, the wild blueberry mixed well with the hops and malts both in taste and in the smell. Overall, it's good, refreshing, and quite crisp - a good summertime brew to share with friends and family.

Okay. I know I have had this beer before but never reviewed or rated it. I have tried it again today. I will say that the beer is about a year old, so I can't really remember if it is representative of what it should taste like. Pours hazy golden color with small foamy head that quickly dissipates. Lacing is minimal. Well, it definitely smells like blueberries. There is a slightly acidic aroma as well. Malty taste when you first sip, followed by strong acidic taste and heavy blueberries. There is not much else but blueberries to taste. Not really my style. If i remember correctly, I didn't really like it the first time I tried it either.

I poured a bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance- Clear golden color with a fingers worth of head. Fair amount of lacing.

Smell- Blueberries and wheat malt.

Taste- Wheat malt and fresh blueberry flavors

Mouthfeel- Light bodied and smooth with an average amount of carbonation.

Overall- Very enjoyable beer. One of the better blueberry flavored beers that I've had.

More tart than most blueberry beers and with a greater wheat presence, this beer still manages to have a fresh blueberry taste, an inviting smell, and near-perfect mouthfeel. The carbonation is not excessive (a mistake of many fruit beers) and the beer goes down very, very easily without being too thin. It doesn't contain artificial flavors.

Overall, a great summer beer that tastes almost as good as Sam Adams Blackberry Witiber.

Great blueberry beer that is not overwhelming with blueberry flavor. what sea dog does well is have the fruit pop out towards the end but before you swallow. Very well balanced and refreshing. This is the perfect beer to hang out in the backyard and is drinkable enough to pound down a few and not get tired of it

I think this is the second Sea Dog I've tried. The first was an odder fruit to put in a beer (but what fruit isn't odd to put in a beer?) - apricot - but this one doesn't work quite as well. Maybe the blueberries were over-ripe.

The brew is a nice color - nothing odd. It has a fairly weak head.

The aroma is over the top. It smelled like a jar of preserves as I poured it. The taste is almost not over the top, but it is excessively fruity. The fruit taste is out of balance and over powers everything else. It also is a little off. This is especially evident in the aftertaste, but it's everywhere, the aroma too.

While still refreshing, I hate to say that I liked the apricot better.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a light golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is bursting with blueberries, very fruity. Taste is tart, wheat, some berries but not overwhelming with them, easy drinking. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer.

I had this on tap at Jerry Remy's Seaport. I was looking to try something new, and somehow didn't realize that this would be a blueberry beer from how it was labeled. I actually like fruit beers probably more than most on this site, but generally try to stay away from blueberry. As far as blueberry beers are concerned, this one is slightly better than others I've had (for instance, it didn't have actual blueberries floating around in it when it was served to me). Anyway, the color is pretty enticing with a deep gold and a short, soft head. The berry flavor is a bit strong for my liking, though. Just a little too sweet.

12oz bottle. No freshness date. Served in a pint glass.

Appearance: Golden yellow in color with less than a finger of a bone white soapy head. Head dissipated quickly to a very thin collar. Slightly hazy in the glass, but mostly clear.

Smell: Blueberries, wheat, apple. The aroma is not very complex, but is pleasant. Blueberry definitely dominates the nose.

Taste: Same as the nose. Blueberry, sweet malt, wheat, with a hint of graininess in the finish. Blueberry tastes artificial, as opposed to actual blueberries.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a relatively soft mouthfeel. Carbonation on the higher end of medium.

Overall: When it comes to these fruited wheat beers, it seems like if you've had one, you've had them all. This one is no different. Not bad but not at all memorable either.

Bottle poured into a Sam Adams pint glass.

Ok, this is way better than the only other blueberry beer I've tried.. which was a Buffalo Bills....

Plenty of blueberry in the smell and the first taste... but you get the wheatiness in there also.

This beer is very smooth and very easy to drink... man.. I can't wait to have this on a hot summer day.

I really like this beer. I'll be picking up a six pack here and there to enjoy.

Appearance: Light amber in color, dense head of white foam that hung about longer than I would have expected.

Smell: The smell of fruit dominates utterly. There's some background of malt, and maybe, just maybe I can get a hint of hop every now and again. But it's really all about the fruit.

Taste: Very sweet. Reminds me of eating Booberry cereal as a child. But perhaps blueberry muffin is a more apt analogy, because one does manage to pick up a little taste of grain.

Mouthfeel: Clean, unoffensive aftertaste of fruit lingers after the swallow.

Overall: So far as fruit beers go, it's not bad. But people who aren't normally fond of the style will likely find the blueberry overwhelming. People who think the only real beer is Belgian, German, or as thick as motor oil will despise it. But if you're open to various styles, it's worth a look. I myself have a soft spot in my heart for it, because it reminds me of a recent trip to Ogunquit, Maine.

Poured this Blueberry Beer from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Poured a clear yellow golden color, produced a thin white head and left little lacing on the glass. The aroma consisted of malted grain and blueberry. Light in body, this ale had a foundation of malted grain, white pepper and blueberry. Overall, not a huge fan of "blueberry" beers but this one was not horrible. Decent session beer...Worth a try!

Oddly enough extremely nice combination of blueberry and beer. You can most definitely taste a strong blueberry flavor, but it doesn't overpower the wheatiness of the beer. The smell sort of reminds me of a blueberry pop-tart. Very happy with this beer.

12 oz twist-off bottle poured into a Sierra Nevada imperial pint.
4.7% ABV, "Beer with natural flavor added" Best Enjoyed before J 13 notched on label.

A - Crystal clear golden yellow in color, Sea Dog Wild Blueberry is much darker than one's standard fruit-infused light beer. The tall column of white foam subsides quickly leaving little lace behind.

S - An eruption of blueberry aroma comes from this beer, more artificial than natural, but not syrupy or overburdened with sugar. It's aroma reminds me of the filled Twizzler bites which I'm now craving. Soft wheat and smooth pale malt provide a balancing, hop-less base.

T - Blueberry changes becoming, oddly, more artificial feeling while actually tasting more like real blueberries. Trying to wrap my head around exactly what's going on with the blueberry addition is exhausting, especially since I enjoy it. Moving on, Wild Blueberry has a rather plain, nonintrusive base of pale and wheat malt.

M - Medium-light bodied, Sea Dog Wild Blueberry has a strange "normal" level of carbonation, not a prickly over-carbonated level one might expect. It actually makes the feel a little thin as the beer finishes rather clean, lingering with a hint of the fruit.

O - I immediately feel in love with this beer at World of Beer on Brady Street in Milwaukee, served with a few small blueberries at the bottom of the pint. I find the tap version a bit more elevated than this bottle, but it's quite a refreshing, easy drinking fruit beer with good blueberry taste and wheat smoothness nonetheless.
