I popped in the Yard House during the Kentucy UNC Elite Eight Game. The place was not full apparently a lot of people cleared out after KU lost. Doesn't look like a beer destination from the outside or inside for that matter. Looks like a semi-classy restaurant with a large bar area. The classic rock was indredibly loud by the bar. The bar is a long oval with a stainless steel bar top. The 100 taps are visible as you walk around the bar. I did it twice and only saw about 3 beers that I had not tried before. Didn't see anything too special or rare, either. Lots of nice choices but no great choices - except maybe Yeti and a couple others. Service was okay. I wasn't there long nor did I need any assistance. I didn't see a list of the beers anywhere on the menu or on a separate sheet of paper. I did not try the food although they had some pretty delicious sounding options. It could be a nice place to stop to take a break from the shopping at Legends.

I was spying all of them in...but that was a pain.

First I'll address the beer side of things, then the food:

Advertising itself to have "The World's Largest Selection of Draft Beer" it certainly is an impressive sight as you walk by a long room lined with tapped kegs, hoses grouped together into metal tracks that run into a centrally located island style bar. Unfortunately however they have clearly opted for quantity over quality, with a great deal of their selection dedicated to mediocre macro brews. Even with over 100 draft choices I always find myself deliberating between 10 or so even when considering all styles, not a great ratio. The waiters typically have minimal input on beer selection, but the bartenders are usually much more able to help.

The reason the yardhouse has remained a regular stop however is that the food is excellent. A bit pricey, but perhaps to be expected as this is a fairly nice sitdown restaurant, and not a pub. A couple personal favorites would be the Mac & cheese squared, and the spicy jambalaya (go with the jasmine rice.) I've eaten there on several occasions and only once can remember someone disliking their food, with a number of very satisfied eaters.

I would say that it is certainly worth checking out if you find yourself over by the legends, but such a glorious amount of taps could certainly be put to better use.

This was a bonus find on St Patrick's Day, was amazed at how non packed the place was..

Very modern and clean, but really subdued, not much energy or buzz coming from this place. Reminded me a lot of the Rock Bottom in CO Springs, but without any beer vibe.

Quality of the beers I had were pretty good, but the Bully Porter didn't taste all together fresh.

Service was, prompt, attentive & friendly, they got right on changing out a keg of Bully when the other one blew

Loads of taps, but at least 35% were crap or "why bother beers". There should've been way more Free Sate & Boulevard choices for starters. This place had far greater potential than it delivered.

$5.50 for a pint of Boulevard Porter, WTH? I think I know why this place was so not busy on one of the biggest drinking days of the year. Worth a visit if in the area, not a beer destination though...

We only had dessert, but it was tasty

Pretty good selection of beers that are available in Kansas. Crowded on a Friday night. I thought the food was pretty good. Definitely not just bar food. My wife had a porcini crusted halibut. The waiter informed us that porcini was a mushroom! I guess we are in Wyandotte county. Everything was pricey. $5.50 for a pint of 75th St. is pretty ridiculous, not so bad for a Hennepin. I also had a Delirium Tremens at $7.

My server didn't seem like he knew that much about beer. I asked him if there was anything not on the printed list (after I already had a beer at the bar that wasn't on the list), and he informed me that they just had what was on the list. Then I proceeded to order a Hop Ottin from the list. Oops, they didn't get any of that yet. If you are at the Legends, this would be a good choice compared to the other stuff out there, but I don't know that I would go out of my way to come here.

I've visited the Yard House a couple times now and every time I have the exact same reaction to the place. The atmosphere reminds me of an upscale sports bar. TV's everywhere, kind of loud, crappy service, high prices. That pretty much sums it up. While they do have tons of taps, it seems like over half of the taps they have are some sort of Domestic Macro. It's really disappointing. I the last time I was there I had a Rogue Juniper ale, and it was obvious that it had been on for a long time, without the lines being cleaned. The other beers I had tasted much the same. I would definitely skip this place unless you happen to find yourself out there.

First I’d heard of this chain, but needed to see for myself. Of the 100 or so taps, they had the usual suspects along with an OK lineup of regionals and imports. But disappointingly they only had at the most 10 local small brewery offerings. The service started slow but got better ... the waitress didn’t know much about beer, but someone came over to answer questions pretty quickly. The food was above average ... just the standard burger fare ... but yummy. Worth a visit but don’t expect any hidden gems.

Jokelahoma's liberal use of the term "flabbergasted" is warranted when you are reffering to the Yard House at the legends in KC. Walking through the legends I wondered to myself "man this took some money to put together" I am pretty sure it did. The mall is an impressive place with a large three story Dave and Busters as the focal point there are many shops and attractions within a few hunderd yards of each other.

As for the yardhouse. This place is brand new and quite a trendy spot. As you walk in the entrance on your left is a giant cooler full of 16 and 8 gallon kegs. Quite impressive and really wets your appetite for some good beer. And I was jacked for some good beer after a few strike outs today at a couple of different locations. Unfortunately about 90 of the 100 or so taps are used up with different derivations beers that cater to the macro drinker. Several different types of pale yellow wheats and pils. There are exceptions as Boulevard is well represented with probably 10 taps. New Belgium, 75th street, O'dells, Rouges, and onviously many others are available....but nothing earth shattering. Yea it isn't every day you see lindeman's framboise on tap, or rouges shakespere stout or youngs chocolate stout. But in bottles I can drink these all day long in most corners of the country....even the really dark ones in Nebraska.

I did manage to try a few nice brews, two from the rouges pulls and the delirum tremens....But I was looking foreward to some good stuff ie Stone Arrogant Bastard served to me in a goblet, damn it...I just got back from this joint and I am still a little bitter. As you can see here
http://www.yardhouse.com/flash/default.asp
I should have been able to choose from some Bear Republic, Stone or North Coast...none were represented. That said there are some good beers to be had, spaten opitomater and some others.

Hang on I am not off my soap box yet. The service sucks...They look at you like "what the hell do you want". Not busy and they forget about you. Plus they do not know anything about beer...at all...too bad.

The food is pretty good but it was nothing to write home about. And definately not worth the price. Which is this places achilles heel (there are many other glowing weaknesses but this takes the cake)

If I am going to pay $5.25 for a pint I better be paying in Canadian dollars, at a sporting event, or at an airport. If I am paying $8+ for a blend of Youngs Chocolate and Lindeman's Framboise it better be on a company tab...oh wait my wife had one and I did pay $8+ for it (not knowingly) holy shit...take out a goddamn loan. I am fine with paying for good service and good food this place had one of the two. Like Manhattan with out the supply and demand issues this place is robbery on I-70...complete crap.

I do not endorse this place in the slightest....find a less expensive place to dine and drink...

And I really wanted to like it too...damn
