This is a very pale yellow, thin bodied though boisterous Russian lager. Pours with a short-lived cloud-white head. Has a pleasant, almost Belgian aroma accented by a few musty off-notes. Zolotoye approaches clarity but is thwarted by a fair measure of visible sedimentation. The taste begins as a crisp, pleasant lager with a sensible malt profile but rapidly devolves into a cloying bitterness that tastes tinny and drab. The brown half-liter bottle featured no expiration date.
Not a great beer really. Wouldn't serve it to the Czar.

Served chilled from a bottle into a tulip glass.
Pours a rather pale gold to slight brass color with a decent amount (1 1/2") of white, bubbly head. Maybe a slight haze of unfiltered look to it but nothing real flashy. Head settles to a nice creamy topping on my brew with some lacing on my glass.
Aroma is very malty and very grainy overall. A slight bitter hops comes through to my senses as well. Mostly the smell of wheat that reminds me of sweet bread. Maybe a bit of biscuit aroma.
Sipping, I notice that this is rather sweet up front of some fruit, but quickly subduing to a wheaty-grain flavor backed by a bit of bitter hops, and finishing with a very weird tin (metallic) flavor as if it were served in a can. I find this to be kinda disgusting! It is bearable due to the initial sipping, but I will struggle to finish this one.
Decent balance between carbonation, which is mildly tangy, but it ends up thinner than I hoped. I guess for a pale lager I am getting what I should have expected. I think this is the first time I've had this style.
Drinkable? If you get a chance to sample it, worth a try, but not worth the price for a bottle.

Pours a nice deep clear gold color under a thin fizzy white head with big bubbles. The head fades quickly, leaving no discernible lace. The nose is a bit tangy/sour, with a touch of metal. The mouth is too tingly, like soda. It tastes just a bit sour, with metallic overtones, alocohol and a mild hoppy bite. The finish is bitter, but not really pleasant. The label lists rice as an ingredient, but I can't say that I could detect it (probably overwhelmed by the alcohol).
