This Belgian-style Dubbel imparts aromas of dark caramel, fruit and spice with a strong malt presence and a wicked, warming finish.

On-tap at the brew-pub before a tour of the facility.
Pour: murky mahogany/amber under a finger of khaki head that fades to a skim. One of the better looking dubbels I've seen.
Nose: spicy-metallic malts; nutty, dusty yeast, doughy bread and light fruits in the finish.
Taste: nutty, spicy yeast; banana esters and roasted malt harken images of dunkel-weiss; sweet candi sugar and raisin/clove give a more authentic Belgian feel; booze rounds out the finish.
Feel: fizzy, light but substantial, viscous with ephemeral booze.
Drinkable: a nice, well-rounded "Americanzed" dubbel with plenty of complexity and great drinkability. Not as refined as the real thing, but that's not what Ale Asylum is all about.

Sweet, strong, and a touch of spice.
Beautiful semi dark hue.
A "sipping" beer. One you want to take your time with, and have it last.
