12oz brown bottle with a freshmess date of 2/28/2014 on it and today is 2/27, so I guess I ought to get to drinking this.
The beer poured a cloudy gold color with a ½-finger of white head that dissipated in under 30 seconds, but left lots of spotty lacing on the glass.
Big pine and orange smell. Very hoppy.
The goal of this beer, according to the company web site, was to create a big hopopy beer without the big bitterness that usually goes along with it. They succeeded. Pine, tangerine, and orange hop flavors dominate, but there is plenty of sweet caramel malt for balance. Bitterness is present, but mild. It's delicious.
Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
They've found a way to keep the citrus flavor of the cascade hops while limiting the bitterness. The result is a delicious, hoppy brew. I can't say enough good things about this beer. Highly recommended.
