12oz bottle with no date purchased at trader joes in madison. ive had this before and it blew up on me, opening careful this time.

look is a dark orange color, cloudy, unfiltered, small head. smell is lemon grass hops, pleasant smelling. good malt presence but mostly hops: honey sweetness balanced out by a sour musky hoppiness.

tasty overly hopped pale

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a tall Summit glass. Bottle says enjoy by 09/17/13.

Appearance: Pours a somewhat cloudy copper golden orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. Big four finger off white head with good retention. Leaves a lot of lacing around the glass.

Smell: A hop forward aroma with solid citrus esters and some sweet caramel malt. Hoppy upfront with citrus fruit esters of orange peel, grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, mango, and lemon. Earthy, herbal, and floral hop hints with some pine and grass. Solid malt backing with hints of biscuit, sweet caramel, toffee, yeast, and cracker. Very juicy smelling and hop forward. Pretty good aroma.

Taste: Like the aroma, a juicy hop forward taste of citrus esters and earthy hops with some sweet caramel malt. Citrus hops upfront with notes of oranges, grapefruit, pineapple, tangerine, mango, and lemon zest. Earthy hops with some grass, pine spice, and floral and herbal notes. Bready malt background with notes of biscuit, caramel, toffee, cracker, and yeast. Hop forward and juicy taste but the bitterness is very tame. Very solid.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Juicy and slightly oily. very smooth and crisp.

Overall: A very solid pale ale. Leans very much to the hoppy side with lots of citrus esters but doesn't have the bitter bite of an IPA. A nice lighter hoppy option.
