Rich amber/ruby with minimal head. Mild malty nose with some nuttiness and caramel, a little citrus as well. Belgian yeast permeates the whole flavor. Again nutty and mildly sweet with a hint of citrus in the background. Rich and round, medium body, perfectly balanced and so easy to drink. Typical Asylum style.

On tap at the Alehouse.
Poured into chalice. Deep hazy red/brown color. No head, but good lacing.
Cherry, chocolate, and toffee aroma. Followed by similar flavours. Very mello and enjoyable. I deff rate this much higher than others have. It is excellent.

Pours light brown with hints of red and a slight has that let a little light through.

Smell has some great Belgian aromas. Yeasty esters have notes of apple pears and slightly tart black cherries. Some nice light phenol spice follows along with some earthy toffee malt. Very small amount of herbal hops on the finish.

Taste follows nose. Some crisp fruity Belgian flavors are forward followed by a light phenolic spice and toffee like lightly roasted malt. Nicely balanced and the malt and yeasty flavors compliment each other nicely.

Mouthfeel is crisp smooth and refreshing. Not too light, not too heavy. Mild carbonation keeps this crisp but not to sharp.

Thanks to eyncognito for this growler. Shared with Deuane.

A: The ale is a hazy golden copper color, darker near the mouth of the glass where it takes on a reddish hue. With over a week under its belt, the carbonation was still pretty good although by the second glass lacing was out of the question.

S: The ale has a pleasant licorice aroma that gets things off to a good start. Pale candi sugars and bready grains fill up the rest of ths nose.

T: The pale malts leave an immediate mark with a bready sweetness that really sets the stage for the Belgian profile. Candi sugars pile on top of the grains with a dry, subtle sweetness. Raisins, green grapes and some banana (!) all make an appearance with marked sweetness, especially the banana. Licorice adds a twist to the flavor. Hop bitterness is nonexistent, but it is not missed behind the yeast and candi flavors.

M: The mouthfeel is sweet with fruit. Rather than being cloying, the licorice and yeast dry the flavor out nicely. The result is a very approachable ale that doesn't have a hint of booze in it.

D: The alcohol doesn't rear its head in any manner, a real feat for a beer of its seeming strength. The yeast-driven banana flavor is a highlight.

Deep amber with a ruby accent. The nose displays sugar, red berry-like fruit, and alcohol. In the mouth it's medium bodied and gently effervescent. The flavor follows the aroma. It's smooth, and fruity with a light tartness over a soft, sugary malt base. Moderately bitter. Surprisingly drinkable!

On tap at the Ale Asylum Brew Pub.

Poured a deeper amberish / brownish color with a smaller sized off white head. It also had a light haze to it. Aromas of bananas, spices, raisins, plums and some yeast. Tastes of fruitiness, raisins, caramel, and spices.

64 oz growler poured into a Duvel tulip.
7.7% ABV.

A - Rusted copper-colored, Happy Ending is hazy and pours with a lasting ivory head that lingers in a densely packed ring below a rocky lace silhouette of a mountain range.

S - Happy Ending's full aroma wafts out immediately and offers a bouquet of Belgian yeast esters; clay, lemongrass, white pepper, and grains of paradise. Caramel notes slowly emerge with dry biscuit following while a swirl brings out granny smith apple slices and a funky off-yeast hint that's not quite aggressive but present nonetheless.

T - Soothing malty presence starts the beer with caramel and sliced warm whole wheat bread before abruptly shifting to the yeast's relentless esters which mirror the nose's earthiness; clay and white pepper with a mélagne of spices along the finish. Traces of molasses and dark candi sugar trail off on the finish of Happy Ending.

M - Happy Ending ends happily with a smooth feel yet mildly carbonated finish; the perfect balance for an Abbey brew. Spiciness trails on the tongue, gently balancing out the sweet malt which lingers in the background all while a faint trace of alcohol warms the throat and stomach.

O - Ale Asylum's Happy Ending has a great base of maltiness and features quite a bit of Belgian yeast character, though somewhat forced-feeling; faintly unnatural. By no means does it distract from the overall impression, which is a soothing and delightfully balanced Belgian-style brew.

On tap at the brewpub in Madison. Pours a caramel/apricot color with a single finger of tight white head that leaves mild lacings and has great retention.

Aroma is lightly sweet with fruity esters and notes of apricot and apple, along with a bit of bready malt. Quite pleasant in the nose.

Taste is lightly fruity and mildly bready, as a good Belgian should be. Fruit notes of grape and apple are present alongside soft notes of bittering hops upon finishing.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a smooth finish and a touch of alcohol in the aftertaste.

Drinkability is good. This is an easy-going Belgian ale, even at 7.7% APV which is barely noticeable. The fruit is not overpowering, nor is the breaded malt or yeast. A well crafted brew from Ale Asylum. Cheers!

Growler filled, to the very top, two days ago.
Poured into a Brasserie de Rocs tulip glass.

Semi-clear, with crimson coloring, maybe more of a burnished apricot hue...and a head that starts sure, but becomes negligible.

Aroma is lightly tart, and thoroughly spicy.
Many fruits bump and jump in the nose, some apple, sour cherry, blood orange, pithy peach pits...definite Belgian yeast character at work here.

in the mouth, it's a splash of the same, some sour, some sweet, some unknowable funky stuff...but delicious, very palatable, and ever relaxing.
Not a crusher or a bruiser, this is a pleaser all the way,

Medium-bodied, with a lingering, slightly hoppy, fruity finish.
Very nice. Great with dinner, parties, bar mitzvahs, voodoo ceremonies, wiccan convocations, vulcan weddings, & chipmunk christmasses.

Pours a cloudy, dark brown color. 1/2 inch head of an off-white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of strong yeast, alcohol, hops, hint of floral, sweet malt, and spices. Fits the style of a Belgian Strong Dark Ale. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of yeast, roasted malt, sweet malt, hint of hop, spices, and alcohol. Overall, good appearance, aroma, body, and blend.
