Appearance: Pours out a clear, deep amber-gold body with a small-sized, near white head.
Smell: Boldly floral, resiny, grassy hops with fruity notes of ruby red grapefruit (plus pith), peach puree, papayas packed in syrup. You can find a bready, grainy, toasty malt base patiently waiting underneath the aromatic hop wafts.
Taste: Sweetish, bready malts firmly affixed to toasted grains. Light caramel hint. As with the aroma, it's grassy, floral, and resinous, with fruity tastes of grapefruit and papaya. Moderate bitterness. Some more of that initial toastiness tries to make its presence known, but it remains predominately hoppy and bitter until the finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Overall: Pleasant hop-forward amber.

12 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present. There is a space for an enjoy by date, but it is left blank. A random find for me in the mixed six pack section at my local beer store. My first beer from Ale Asylum. Expectations are moderately good.
Poured into a clear balloon snifter.
A - Oh yeah, its pours a beautiful dark coppery orange / amber color, almost ruby at times with lots of dark sediment flecks and two big fluffy fingers of beige froth. Good lacing. Looks very nice.
S - Smell is comprised of earthy / caramel / pale malts, green apples, and some dried herbal / vegetal smelling hop presence. Slight soapiness. Smells pretty nice.
T - Reminds me more of what I'd imagine a nice pale ale would be more so than an amber, but it's all good. Caramel / amber malt, and earthy / piney / sticky green apple hop presence.
M - Feel is dry, bready, sticky, & bitter. Some piney / green apple hop presence lingering on the palate. Good balance. Medium bodied
Overall, a very nice, if somewhat standard, slightly above average offering from Ale Asylum. More hop forward than a lot of other amber ales I've had. Reminds me more of a stronger pale ale or an older more malt forward IPA. Either way, I'm not hard to please. I'd have it again.
