Thanks to sonoma01 for the bottle!
Pours a murky caramel with a 2 finger off-white head leaving spotty lacing down the glass.
Smells of citrus and earthy hops with a deep bready sweetness. A little metallic and slightly sour.
Starts with a floral hop flavor quickly turning into a little brown sugar and bread sweetness. Finishes with an intense earthy bitterness and is a tad astringent.
Mouthfeel is medium. There's some heft to this which I like and carbonation levels are good.
Good drinkable brew although not without some faults. The aftertaste is so overpowering, I'm not sure I could drink this all night. Overall though it's a hoppy amber which is always good in my world.

12 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present. There is a space for an enjoy by date, but it is left blank. A random find for me in the mixed six pack section at my local beer store. My first beer from Ale Asylum. Expectations are moderately good.
Poured into a clear balloon snifter.
A - Oh yeah, its pours a beautiful dark coppery orange / amber color, almost ruby at times with lots of dark sediment flecks and two big fluffy fingers of beige froth. Good lacing. Looks very nice.
S - Smell is comprised of earthy / caramel / pale malts, green apples, and some dried herbal / vegetal smelling hop presence. Slight soapiness. Smells pretty nice.
T - Reminds me more of what I'd imagine a nice pale ale would be more so than an amber, but it's all good. Caramel / amber malt, and earthy / piney / sticky green apple hop presence.
M - Feel is dry, bready, sticky, & bitter. Some piney / green apple hop presence lingering on the palate. Good balance. Medium bodied
Overall, a very nice, if somewhat standard, slightly above average offering from Ale Asylum. More hop forward than a lot of other amber ales I've had. Reminds me more of a stronger pale ale or an older more malt forward IPA. Either way, I'm not hard to please. I'd have it again.
