This is a very enjoyable every day sort of beer. I could sit down with this for dinner after work on any day and be content. Of course the tap is better than bottle, better head, aroma, and overall feel when fresh tapped, but it holds up in the bottle quite well.
A: Great rich brown black; initial head that foams down after a couple minutes.
S: This smells grand. Rich chocolate yeasty aroma,
T: This has a nice smooth chocolate touch, rich but not overpowering. The out meal slick stout has more umph, I think when first seeing and smelling you expect to get more umph like you do from the stout. However, this is very tasty with a smooth finish.
M: The taste is great but I sometimes expect the texture to feel creamier, perhaps too much effervescence for my taste in a good Porter, but by no means does this detract from the brew.
O: This is a great beer; I recommend Ale Asylum to anyone looking for an all around good brew.

Pours dark brown with a floating island. Almost no lacing sticks.
The smell is of cocoa with dark-ish earthy notes.
The taste is of powdery chocolate that improves with the progression of the drink. Minerally, earthy bitterness in the finish.
It leans towards fizzy and thin, and though it does improve with progression/warming to room temperature, it still could have more of a body to it. (A second bottle confirmed this.)
The chocolate does move beyond "powdery" and there is balance to it. It's a nice enough porter overall.
