Notes/Commercial Description:
Bedlam! A chaotic blend of Citra hops and Belgian yeast give this IPA aromas of summer fruits and a bright hop presence with a plush finish.

Pours a dark straw color with small ring of white. Good lacing.

Smells intense with earthy hops mixed with Belgian funk and some sour fruit. I could smell this all day long. Light malt.

Taste has strong funky plastic bandaid yeastiness that is not bad. Big hop taste with grapefruit and pith. Somewhat boozy.

Mouthfeel is slick and slightly syrupy. Moderate carbonation and medium/heavy body.

This was more of a sipper.

Served chilled in a bottle and allowed to warm up in a standard pint glass.

A=Very rich, copper color with a robust, whitish head.

S=Strong essence of apricot, even in the bottle...also rather evident in the glass.

T=Initially, a rather strong apricot taste with accompanying sweetness. Rather light malt flavor, and no noticeable hops. The finish was more like a peach--this beer reminded me a lot of Magic Hat #9, only with the flavor cranked up a notch or two.

M=A bit too heavy and sweet to be a session beer--ideal sipping beer in autumn as a winter warmer.

O=This is the first "Belgian IPA" that I can recall drinking....IPA lovers will be disappointed in the lack of traditional hop/IPA flavoring. I may try again this fall on tap at the brewery, but can't see this as an everyday beer.
