A murky golden brown. I'm guessing unfiltered? Smell is piney with bitter citrus fruit - grapefruit and lemon. Taste is similar but super bitter. Really bites your face off. Malt comes through a bit, especially as it warms but the beer is a bit unbalanced for me. The extreme bitterness and the high alcohol makes it kind of a scorcher. It's a good beer and I'd drink it again but it's somewhat one-dimensional.

This is an outstanding beer. It's a little sweet, but the overall taste covers up any, and all deficiencies. The appearance is nice looking. The smell is inviting, the mouthfeel is more than sufficient, and the taste is world-class. Not too hoppy. There is some heat in the taste, something hot. Some fumes out of the nose near the backend of the drink. Nothing serious, or overwhelming for me. For others, it might be harsh. I like it. Overall, this is a world class beer with world class all-around taste.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium coppery amber with a fine one finger off-white head with good retention and lots of lacing. Rich aroma of caramel malt, tropical fruit, lighter citrus and citrus hops. Flavor is caramel malt, citrus and piney hops, tropical fruit, grapefruit rind, finishes with high octane resiny pine and citrus hop bitterness, warming. Very pleasant creamy body. An intense but balanced IIPA, there is a bit of booziness in the finish, but it is accompanied by great hop flavors. Port has shown they can produce tasty IPAs and this is one of them. This bottle is now about two months old and still has great hop character. I came back to add a bit to the taste points after my first glass, chalk it up to the high ABV talking, but this ale tasted great with every sip.
