L: Super hazy, pale orange with a big white head on a gentle pour. Very carbonated which is surprising considering the other Port beers I have had. Great lacing.
A: Resiny pine and pineapple/mango hop notes, some dankness as spiciness in the back. The malt brings some sweet breadiness as well with a little biscuit. Very clean and crisp fermentation profile.
T/M: Big, smooth bitterness upfront, moves into massive pine resin and earthy/spicy hop notes. The middle reveals an almost syrupy, candy-like malt character and booziness that battles with the massive hop flavors. Finish is hop spice and candy malt with a drying body.
Overall, this is a great Double IPA with a very unique hop character. The strength of this beer is impressive and perhaps becomes a little over the top. However, if you want to be punched in the face by a massive hop-bomb this will do the trick. A very original take on the west-coast DIPA.
