Beer/Brewery - Older Viscosity/Port Brewing Company
City/State- San Marcos, CA
STYLE – American Double Imperial Stout
ABV – 12%
IBU – ?? Would love some help on this please
DATE – 5 JAN 2012 (#006 of 265 Beers of 2012)
SERVING TYPE – Corked 12.7 oz
GLASSWARE – Schooner
APPEARANCE – Black the way a stout should look, but even blacker like motor oil. Did a hard straight pour and there is little to no head and a good bit of sediment
AROMA- Boozy (Bourbon), vanilla, oak, and I know this sounds funny but a “Junk Yard” Smell in a good way
TASTE – Good alcohol taste, note over powering but very warming with some nice Chocolates that sweeten it up.
MOUTHFEEL – Very light for a stout and unbelievable without a head a good bit of carbonation
CONCLUSION – Not a very day drink, but very good! I was also shock to see such a small bottle with a cork.

Poured from bottle in small tasting glass. Date of review is 7/21/14.
Appearance- Nothing special whatsoever. A deep dark brown fills the glass. A semi-hard pour results in no head at all. Lack of lacing is present too.
Smell- Sweet malt, bourbon and vanilla in that order. Brown sugar and green apple present themselves as well.
Taste- A bit sweeter than I expected. Also, I get the alcohol burn, but it's 12% ABV what do I expect. Bourbon and vanilla are the two most dominant flavors.
Mouthfeel- Way way too thin for a beer called Older Viscosity. It disappears as soon as you take a sip. It does, however, leave a pleasant sweet taste in your mouth.
Overall- I had this beer a few years ago and I remember it being fantastic. This time around, it was below average for a barrel-aged stout. I will not seek this beer out again.
