Pours an orangish brown with a silky tan head. Nice lacing and retention.
Nose has caramel, citrus, sweet malts and fruity hops. But there is a harsh alcohol aroma that really detracts from everything else.
Taste has candy malts, bitter hops and more of the unbalanced alcohol presence. Just too boozy to be enjoyable.
Creamy body is well carbonated, but again too much liquor up front and through the finish to make this very drinkable. Don't really want to finish my glass let alone the rest of the bottle.
Poor attempt by Port. I expect much better from these guys. Should have read more reviews before I wasted my $7. Whether this is a Double Pale Ale or Double IPA, it's one of the worst examples of either style I have ever had. Sorry Tomme, better luck next year.
Edit: Took over three hours to finish the bottle. My opinion of this ale remains unchanged.

Review from notes. Came across as pretty one dimensional, especially given Pizza Port's brewing acumen for this style. Comes in dark, yellow/auburn notes, thin 1/4" white head. Aroma was alcohol first, then you got a smidge of tropical fruit, nondescript.
Taste was a 100ibu face melt bomb. Didn't impart enough hop flavor. Overly syrupy, thick, viscous. I dunno, I didn't find anything special about this, in fact it was below average for sure for them, one of their worst hoppy beers of all time.
