Bought this beauty at Port Brewing on a visit to surf, beach, pool, beer, with my brother in north park. Shipped it back to MN...extremely fresh!
appearance - the color of apricots, fresh squeezed apricots, a bit hazy. Big fluffy head, tons of lacing.
smell - fresh, hops, floral, piney, not citrusy like I'd expect. wondering what kind of hops, chinook maybe?
taste - Resinous flavor, good caramel malt sweetness holding up to the bitterness,, the middle is full on grapefruit, and mandarine oranges, then the bitterness hits you hard on the end and lingers. Resinous, piney, crazy amount of hops.
mouthfeel - big medium mouthfell, medium carbonation
overall - Damn, I really really like this beer. Maybe my favorite IPA right now. Better then anything then I can get in MN right now. Surly furious is amazing, but Surly tastes like grapefruit juice, so this is the complete opposite side of the spectrum. Wow. Juicy, resinous, sweet, extremely bitter, just amazingly executed.
