Poured into a signature sam adams pint glass.

A - Got a very thick 3 inch frothy head atop a nice very cloudy hazy light orange. Typical appearance of a DIPA.

S - Getting a lot of pine and slight citrus...not getting a ton of grapefruit which is surprising for a west coast hop bomb....with a huge malt backbone. Getting some honey sweetness too - after pouring you get all the same just a little bit more fruity..

T/M - getting all these nice hoppy notes, with a nice warming alcohol punch after swallowing. Medium to thick mouth feel and well carbonated.

Overall - A decent beer put out by port, but by far not one of the best ones ive had by them. Decent beer, but will not purchase again.

From notes. Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a tulip.

This has a typical color for a Port DIPA; bright orange, with a nice haziness and a fluffy off white head.

A good amount of caramel malt starts up front, with a generous helping of mango, grapefruit, pineapple, and some other tropical fruity hops.

The flavor progresses in a predictable but enjoyable way. The initial sweetness is smooth and not overwhelming. After a few moments, the flavor turns from sweet to bitter with a modest explosion of fruity hops. Mango, pineapple, and grapefruit contribute to a robust flavor that is more tropical than citrus.

The body is a bit fuller than medium; the carbonation is creamy and pleasant. There is a graininess to this as well.

Overall I enjoyed this beer a fair amount; nice, hoppy, and the transitions among the flavors is nice and smooth.
