Notes/Commercial Description:
This beer is retired; no longer brewed.

Brewed with Columbus, Amarillo and Simcoe and dry-hopped with Columbus, Amarillo and Citra (a new addition this year) hops, Anniversary Ale has pleasant tones of citrus and pine, a screaming hops presence and just enough malt character to add a hint of sweetness.

Clover honey, orangish-yellow in color with a slight haze. Poured with a short bright white dense foam that slowly reduced to a wispy cap. Pungent citrus hops, grapfruit, orange rind, lemon peel and a hint of booze at the end. On the lighter side of medium bodied but with rich, creamy smooth carbonation. Pungent tropical citrus hop flavors right out of the gate with a light caramel maltiness struggling through. Finished cleanly with a citrus hop afterntaste that nicely covered the high abv. Fabulous.

Amazing... 22 oz bottle, 34 degrees to start, served into a snifter...

A: Opaque, golden orange, with a tight thick head, and a stick lacing that stays through out the hole bottle...

S: Hoppy, citrusy, piney, floral goodness.

T: Booming with flavors, some sweet, but mostly hops. well blended citrus and pine...

M: rounded, and biting, with some sweet elements, the grapefruit/orange hops stay on the tongue and create a thick reminder of the mouthful. Resinous pine also permeates the after-breath.

O: Great DIPA. Not sure I have had the past editions, but this puts PORT back on my radar... Loved Mongo and Wipeout in the past... but forgot how good these guys were.

A - Pours an amber orange color with a massively thick and rich cream colored head that's incredibly sticky. (Compared to alot of IPA's the head will get away from you really quick so pay very close attention, it's active.) Carbonation is on the higher side of moderate for the style.

S - Light pine, Citrus, oranges, light floral, and biscuity malt.

T - Resin all over the place with pine, grapefruit, oranges, and lemon from start to finish with a very aggressive bitter grapefruit/pine finish that lingers and lingers, and lingers... There's some light caramel biscuit malt underneath but only comes out for a brief moment before being buried again by a healthy dose of hops. Light alcohol warming on the back end. As the beer warms up there's some light floral character as well.

M - Light medium body and almost creamy mouthfeel which was totally unexpected (with some carbonation), dry finish.

O - Have always enjoyed this big IPA from Port and the new addition of Citra hops is welcomed.

On tap at the Map Room in Chicago, served in a snifter.

A- cloudy gold and amber, creamy thick two finger head.

S- incredibly fruity hops, crisp and sweet, no noticeable alcohol

T- bitter, piney front, sticky and resiny hop bitterness pervades, kinda surprised given how fruity it smells. A bit of malty sweet, but omg this is one hell of a bitter, dry, Hop bomb

M- drying and sticky, slight alcohol warmth, creamy carbonation, almost feels bottle conditioned

O- a lovely DIPA, intensely bitter hops. Not my favorite, as i have recently been leaning to a greater appreciation for fruity, tropical sweetness. For that reason, the smell is my favorite part of this beer.
