Very malty aroma with big amounts of caramel malt and A hint of Diacetyl. Lots of fruity yeast notes too.
Deep brown with very little head. Extremely cloudy.
Flavorful malty ale. Lots of fruit fermentation esters and complex caramel and dark crystal malt flavors. Hint of diacetyl adds a level of complexity. Not peated as far as I can tell but does have a hint of smokiness in the aftertaste.
Full bodied with just enough carbonation to keep if from seeming flat. The carbonation level is good for this style even though it's lighter than most beers.
Overall a good effort at scotch ale. Better than some I've had but not better than some I've had.

This beer poured a medium hazy brown color with a light head. The head settled to a foam that hung on the glass. It had a strong sweet aroma with a malty nose. It has a strong flavor with hints of a smoky porter quality but clearly a scotch ale taste. It has a bit of a bite in the finish but it goes down smooth. It has clear malt and caramel qualities that give it a nice sweet flavor. It has an over all crispness that is balanced with the lingering heaviness of the body. It goes down smooth and slick with a light carbonation. In all I would say its a quality ale and worth a try. Its not my favorite style but this one does it justice.

On draught at their pub, Old Bog Breath is a fairly still looking amber with a small khaki collar.
Smell is sweet malty, worty...a little spilled dried beer vibe, reminds me of the college party house, but not dirty or gross.
Taste is malty, sweet, a little fruity ester note. A hint of bog, eh, maybe....decent scottish though, which is more about the malt then the perception that it should be smoked, and I prefer them on the fruity side, which this is.
Mouthfeel is on the drier side, some decent carbonation, some heft from the residual sugars.
Drinkabiltiy is okay, it's a solid wee heavy, nice smoothness at about 8% ABV, good balance. Solid.

A: Poured a hazy brownish color with reddish and burgundy hues
S: Plenty of caramel and bread, hints at some peat
T: Really sweet, caramel, some light peat, toffee at times
M: Medium bodied, no carb issues, sweet and some booze
D: Good for the style.

I was served this beer at the 2008 Cask Beer Festival in Seattle, Washington.
A: It poured a murky brown body (somewhat like a dunkel weiss). It had a tan head with large bubbles and a moderate amount of lacing.
S: It emitted aromas of sweet malts, caramel, white doughy yeasts, and earthy hops.
T: It hit my mouth with a mountain of creamy malty richness. Flavorful malty ale. There were sweet caramel malts, lots of yeast and smoky almond flavors. The hops and alcohol were well hidden.
M: It was medium to full bodied with modest carbonation and a clean finish.
D: It fell a bit short for a Wee Heavy but it was a nice clean brew that would be easy to drink as a session beer.
