On tap at Brouwers Bigwood fest, 12oz snifter. So happy to see this one again.

A: Black as night with one finger light tan cap that settles down after a few minutes. Looks thick, chewy, inviting.

S: Classic bourbon barrel aromas and chocolate. Light booze.

T: Wow, the base beer and the barrel are beautifully balanced. Bourbon up front moving into roasted malt and chocolate.

M: Big and silky, like a milkshake. Lip smacking good.

O: Very impressive, this beer fires on all cylinders. I would get a case if they would bottle it at some point.

Had at Brouwers Big Wood.

Appearance - this beer has the appearance of gravitas. This is a serious beer that deserves your palate's full attention.

Smell - chewy, bready, thick, and sweet. Really good!

Taste - extremely balanced and complex. The bourbon isn't overpowering - melds well with the rest of the flavors. The oak is present, but just right. Dark fruits and chocolate are prominent.

Overall - It all comes together really nicely.

Mouthfeel - viscous and chewy - If I didn't know it was from Port Townsend, I would have thought this came from Firestone, Deschutes, or a large brewery known for their imperial stouts. It deserves to be up there in the world class category.

I really hope they make this again.

A: Poured jet black with good carbonation and heavy pour. Nice tan cap with some bubbles. Looked good!

S: Wow! My first whiff was a big blast of maple syrup, bourbon, oak, booze, chocolate. It smelled so good I stuck my nose in the glass and wanted to snort it.

T: Simply amazing. I've had alot of Impy whales and I will say not many compare to this beer, of any. Chocolate, molasses and bourbon immediately, vanilla, oats, hints of coffee, roasted malt all blened in whirlwind of great flavors. This beer gets better by the second. It finishes silky smooth, almost milky and it is decadent. This beer is multi dimensional and a chamellion beer changing and brining so many flavors.

M: Biiiig body, loads of flavor, nice creaminess, hearty. A liquid breakfast indeed. KBS who?

O: Do not doubt Pt Townsend. They make great big beers and this was very impressive. I would put this beer up aginst any Impy Stout whale. No contest. Pt Townsend and WA wins.
