Very cool place near a trendy and spendy part of Denver. Food was really top notch bar food, burgers were great. On the beer side of things, they had a bunch of interesting stuff next to the boring macros. Great Divide Titan, an excellent DIPA and Odells #5, a perfectly acceptable pale ale were the two I sampled. I saw Stone IPA, which is never a bad thing, and a few others I would have been interested in had I not been there for business reasons. There are certainly places with better selections out there, but the prices were great, the food ruled, and you can do a lot worse for beer. Good place.

This is a dive bar/burger joint. It has been on all the food network and travel channel shows, and is somewhat of an institution in the area. A dark and dank pub area in the front with a pool room in the back, and a patio outside. All fine and dandy for a dive. The carpet looks like it is 30 years old and smells of mold. Anyway, on to the important stuff.

The burgers are really good. Lots of toppings to mix and match. I had blue cheese crumbles and sautéed mushrooms. My folks split a burger with avocado, white cheddar, and a fired egg. My Aunt had the green chile. All was good, and recommended. Maybe not as good as the hype, but still very enjoyable.

The service is nice and friendly, and somewhat knowledgeable. Though slow as molasses.

The beer selection has some above average options, but really nothing out of the ordinary. Most the stuff I can find at my average beer bar in Houston. Avery and Oskar Blues as the big sellers. Along with Wynkoop as the highlight for me. The rest is pretty much BMC or their imported ilk. I wish they had some Odells like the brewwania signage advertizes. Oh well.

Overall, a nice place for a burger and beer. Expect to wait a LONG time for anything with a somewhat passable selection. You can't go wrong with the burgers, but nothing I have not had in a hundred different places across the country. I still did enjoy it, just don't go out of your way.

A great place for a burger and a beer. Casual, to the bones, divey and out of place in the upscale Cherry Creek neighborhood. If you didn't know about the place prior to going you might walk in and walk out after a quick look through. But that's also part of the charm. Really good burgers with standard bar food appetizers. Its about the burgers through and through. A large selection of beers to choose from, though the selection consists solely of your standard fare that you can find at any bottle shop. Its about quantity of selection, not uniqueness of the offerings. Service isn't anything special, not terrible not great. Price fairly.

On business in Denver, my co-worker really talked this place up. From the name Cherry Cricket, I was worried that this was a pseudo-British pub type place; you know the ones that have overly whimsical names like “The Whittling Fig Pub” or something.

Luckily, it wasn’t. It’s named after the upscale Cherry Creek section of town. It was a basic pub, with nothing much to recommend in terms of ambiance or decor.

My co-worker implored me, “You’ve GOT to try this place! The burgers are AWESOME!”

They weren’t. They were pre-formed and and served on a slightly soggy standard-issue bun.

“They have a really great draft selection,” he continued.
Not that great, actually.

To be fair, they did have several good draft options available (Breckenridge, Tommyknocker, Avery, and others) but there were too few interesting choices, especially considering that this is Freakin’ DENVER after all, and there are plenty of better beer bars within a few minutes of the Cherry Cricket.

The burger was weak, and the loud crappy 80’s music from Music Choice was pretty annoying. A red velvet cake desert was stale, and may have been tasty otherwise. Too bad.

On the plus side, the green chili was pretty great, there was a fairly large bottle list, and the service was particularly great-cheerful, attentive and accommodating.

Again, it wasn’t a bad experience per se; the food was OK and there were enjoyable beers available. But these factors alone are not enough to live up to the hype. Meh.

Considering the far superior food and beer options available in Denver, I won’t go back.

Visited on my recent trip to Denver with the wife. We stopped in here for lunch after a visit to the Denver Zoo.

I would say this is less of a beer spot than a pub that happens to have some good beers. Most of the people I saw were there for the food and not really a lot of beers being poured. The atmosphere was kind of a run down hole in the wall feel with pretty average service.

The beer selection and the burgers were good. The quality of everything was also good.

I was able to try an Odell 90 Schilling and it went very well with my burger with smoked cheddar, grilled mushrooms, and grilled onions.

The prices are a bit much for the food as each topping on your burger is an extra charge. The beer prices also seemed a bit high.

Overall, this is a pretty good place but the atmosphere and service leave something to be desired.
