A: Pours dark brown with an almost non-exicting brown head. No lacings.
S: Sour notes up front, but then very chocolaty. Hard roasted dark malts, very sweet, almost syrupy. Some bitterness lures in the back.
T: Flowery and fruity sweet roasted malts. Dark dried fruits and rich chocolate. Some bitter hops.
M: Aftertaste is short, but actually quite bitter. Body is medium as well as carbonation. But man this is smooth.
O: Npt bad. not bad at all. The chocolate overload was what made this beer interesting.

Testing this beer well-chilled, poured from a bottle into a tulip glass.
A: The beer got a dark brown and almost coffee-like color, it's pretty turbid. Pouring this beer into the glass creates almost no foam at all, twirling the glass creates a very thin foam on top that disappears almost immediately.
S: Sweet, malty with roasted hints. Gives a little sticky feeling in the nose smelling it.
T: Just as the smell there are lots of malts here giving you a sweet almost toffy taste. Then comes the roasted tones giving you more dry finish to the taste.
M: The malts create a sweet feeling in your mouth that turns into a more dry and roasted feel when the more roasted malts comes in. The low carbonation makes it even more sweet in my opinion.
O: There are lots of malts in here with both sweet and roasted tones. I would have liked some more hops in here making a more well-balanced beer. Even though this is a scottish ale i think a little more carbonation here would made this beer more enoyable.

The colour is very dark brown-red, almost black (95 EBC), the liquid is clear. The finger thick leaves some lacing while sinking down.
The smell is a bit sour, reminding of red currants and unripe fruits. Some malty sweetness, hints of marzipan and a very smooth mild bitterness. It is overall smooth.
The taste is malty and sweet with distinct notes of sirapslimpa, a Swedish rye bread with molasses. Grassy/flowery mild bitter notes and a sourness that one normally find in porters gives balance. Some caramel and smooth sweet notes, some hints of fruit candy and alcohol. The finish got a fine lingering chocolate flavour.
The carbonation is medium strong; the short lived medium sized bubbles are fresh. The liquid is semi-smooth and a bit dry.
A well crafted and balanced Scottish ale. They don’t come that often.
