This unique India Pale Ale features our favorite hops—Simcoe, Amarillo and Nugget. A generous Amarillo and Simcoe dry hop provide for an assertive, hop-forward nose and front palate. We don’t use traditional bittering hops in our IPA, providing nothing but stimulating citrus and floral characteristics.

Inspired by a recipe from our good friend and fellow homebrewer Tim from the North Shore Homebrewers Club.

Twelve ounce bottle poured gently into a New Belgium snifter. Bottle says best by March 2015.

A - Pours a beautiful pale straw, near perfect for the style, topped with a very fluffy and dense white foam that is slow to recede and leaves heavy lace. Continues to boil up from the bottom of the snifter even several minutes after the pour. The head becomes so thick after a minute or two that individual bubbles are no longer visible, just one lumpy blanket of fluff.

S - Smells as an IPA should, nothing overwhelming about it. Slight hint of pine and citrus, faint hint of fresh-cut grass if I inhale deep enough. As gorgeous as it is to look at, this one is average on the nose.

T - Nice and bitter up front. There is a touch of citrus, maybe even the bitterness of orange peel. It is a very well-done average IPA. For a brew sporting 7.1 ABV, this one does a great job of hiding the alcohol. There is no booze burn at all. The finish is all hop bitterness, in spite of their claim to have created a citrus/floral ale, this one finishes like a big DIPA and is all bitter at the end. A grassy/bready malt taste is present between sips.

MF - It feels like a carbonated beverage. Heavily carbonated. Not as smooth and oily as most IPAs I like, but certainly would be refreshing on a hot day, in spite of the alcohol content. There is plenty of carb burn on the tongue and all the way through the swallow. Would be a 5.0 if this were a pilsner, but as it's an ale, I would just rate this attribute as average.

O - Overall this was a great recommendation from a good friend. I never would have tried it on my own as the "organic" label would have scared me away. That said, I enjoyed and would enjoy again. I hate not knowing when it was made, and I feel that this sample might have been more than 90 days old. Would love to have a really fresh bottle, or maybe even enjoy on tap. This is a good, average, middle of the road IPA for the person who loves hop bitterness, but does not want to have his tongue wrecked by some of the more extreme IPAs. I would also say this one is mis-classified. It should be a Double IPA, along the same lines as SN Torpedo.

Well done, and on the upper end of average, lower end of great.

Really great crisp ipa. Love the amount of carbonation. Definitely better than eel river organic ipa. Very drinkable

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: Golden color with a slight haze. Thin white head with mild lacing on the glass.

Smell: Strong hops, pine, and citrus notes.

Mouthfeel/Taste: Smooth medium bodied. Taste of strong bitter hops and pine with a hint of citrus.

Overall: Good IPA!
