Notes/Commercial Description:
This unique India Pale Ale features our favorite hops—Simcoe, Amarillo and Nugget. A generous Amarillo and Simcoe dry hop provide for an assertive, hop-forward nose and front palate. We don’t use traditional bittering hops in our IPA, providing nothing but stimulating citrus and floral characteristics.

Inspired by a recipe from our good friend and fellow homebrewer Tim from the North Shore Homebrewers Club.

Poured a cloudy orange with a thin foamy white head.

The smell was of citrus hops, mostly grapefruit.

The taste was pretty hoppy and bitter.

Smooth light mouthfeel with a slight carbonation.

Overall a pretty average ipa, decent enough but with much better out there I'll skip it.

Pours one fingers worth of a fairly creamy white head. Very sticky and appealing lacing. The head is fairly easy to regenerate.

Smells of floral and resinous hops. Very sweet carmel and toffee coming through as it warms. Maybe some biscuit and oak mixed in too.

Tastes fairly sugary and sweet at first, some Carmel and toffee mid palate, then some mineral and pine on the finish. Fairly complex which hinders its drinkability. The mineral note with a medium firm hop bitterness and pine taste hold this one back from being better. There's a distinct graininess that is more and more present as this warms, which is quite off putting.

Mouthfeel is medium full, quite sticky sweet and resinous. Medium carbonation.

Overall this is good but not great. Farly low drink-ability due to the aftertaste. Maybe its a freshness issue but this is the way it is. Good bitterness, subtle hop character, firm Carmel and toffee sweetness.

$2 a single.

Had this on-tap at Rockwood Music Hall in NYC on 1/23/12.

Review taken from notes.

This beer pours a golden copper color with nice clarity. There is just a very thin white head resting on top since I'm at a bar. Can't accurately judge read retention, but there is a some nice lace left behind on the glass with each sip. The nose is of caramel malts and a nice hop presence. There also some aromas of tropical fruit, citrus, and a little bit of toffee. The taste follows the nose. It starts off with some caramel malts and toffee. Then there is a nice citrusy hop bite to it. Also, I am getting some tropical fruit flavors. The finish leaves some lingering hop bitterness, caramel, and fruit behind on the palate. This has a medium body and good carbonation. It goes down easy, and it has a nice feel to it. There is some initial sweetness, and that gets cut by a nice citrusy hop bitterness. The hop bitterness lingers on the tongue in the finish. This has good drinkability. Overall, I think it is a nice beer, and a good representation of the style. I could easily knock a few of these back no problem. It is refreshing and has a good hop presence. I recommend checking this one out. I would buy it again.

A- pours an orangey amber color with a finger of off white head. Good retention with some lacing.

S- very solid hop aromas with classic pine and yellow grapefruit citrus characteristics. Floral spicy hop notes on the middle. Dry biscuity malt aromas bring good balance on the finish.

T- spicy floral hop flavor blends with pine and yellow grapefruit peel. Balanced biscuity malt on the finish with a moderate hop bitterness on the finish.

MF- dry crackers mouthfeel with a light body and medium carbonation.

D- balanced hop forward IPA. Good drinkability.

Poured from bottle into tulip. Bottle states best before June 2012. Pours a copper golden with small head. Nice lacing on the glass.
Smells of fresh earthy hops and some malts.
Taste is of botter fresh hops. Some caramel/toasty malts are present.
Its slightly bitter in the mouth. Very mild for such a high ABV.
For years I have passed this brew up..and all Peak for that matter. I was under the assumption this was a gimmicky brew..but its actually not bad. Its not the best IPA I ever had, but its deff tastey. Id now like to try other brews by Peak.

A: Copper colored ale coupled with half finger off white head seems striving for stereotype like it’s nobodies business.

S: Light pine aromas waft over subtle orange and grapefruit citrus. Malts are reminiscent of Graham crackers and buttered toast.

T: Subtle and balanced is the name of the game for this IPA. Mild hop flavors are layered over buttery and nutty malts, light almonds, sweet crackers, toast.

M: Light to medium bodied with a silky middle ending moderately dry.

O: Sometimes you need to travel fast. There’s a passing lane for that. Other times you need to be conservative. There’s a slow lane for that. Other times you just need to get there. And that’s why there’s a travel lane. This is a middle of the road IPA, but it gets the job done.
