I went to Tj's for the first time w/ my brother-tenderbranson69 for the 6th Anniversary celebration.
The place was about 1/2 full when I arrived and it had just started to snow - 1st snow of the season. I sat with him at a bistro table directly behind the bar which seats about 18.The room is very loud and slightly cramped, but there is sufficient seating for the space with a couch and a couple comfy chairs by the take-out coolers. The bar is decorated with breweriana and is organized with an overall neat appearance. They have about 12 tables and their is the dining room on the other side, generally a cozy establishment but not very much to dampen the noise level in the bar area with metal ceilings and tile floor.
The service level is very good considering the amount of people they serviced while we were there, the crowd became large when the second wave of taps opened at 5 pm. There were people waiting to be seated at the bar and everyone was served relatively quickly. I waited for a few minutes for my second draft, but overall good service since the staff introduced themselves and was very efficient with our orders which were handled in an accurate manner.
The selection is good, the event brought many drafts which are sought after beers -such as Pliny the Elder, Barrel aged Sea Monster to name a couple. They have plenty of Belgian selections and a good cross section of craft styles such as dortmunder, Imperial IPA, RIS, rye beer, Wit, American strong ales and a few lagers too. The drafts are what you want to see, though and TJ's doesn't dissapoint as they had over 10 plus cask ales to choose from.
The food was prepared well and came to the table hot and was presented well. The menu is standard bar food but care in preparation is taken They have tasty onion rings with horseradish dip which I sampled and the shepherds pie I ordered was tasty however the meat seamed to have a slightly high grease quotient. I sampled the fish and chips my bro ordered which were battered in Great Lakes lager and they were very tasty. It seems that they are trying to present the opportunity to pair beer with food and use beer in the menu items which is a plus. I liked the menu which was laid out well and looked cool with a metal cover embossed with the restaurant logo.
I found the value to be reasonable for what you get. I would return to TJ's and was glad I got to try the 7 beers I enjoyed since they offer flights of three in sampler glasses. I appreciate the opportunity to have craft beer on cask and options like Russian River Temptation and Ithaca Brute are a treat, not to mention an '08 Black Chocolate Stout, Life and Limb, limb & life and one of my favorite hoppy beers - Sculpin!
I recommend TJ's, I enjoyed the place and really didn't want to leave with the 20+ draft selections they offered on this anniversary.

This is a place I have always wanted to visit, and finally I was in the area and made sure I put this on my to do list for the day. It is located in a strip mall area that seems to not have enough parking for all the stores. Got one of the last parking spots available. Walking inside you are greeted by a hostess, and I decided to head to the bar in the right room of the place. The left seems to have dinig tables.
The bar was nice as it had a granite top and could seat 15 or so. Dark colors throughout, and 3 large TVs are showing sports. There are LCD panels that are showing the offerings and they look like a blackboard which is cool. A "No Crap On Tap" neon sign is over the cash register.
There were about 25 beers on draft that focused on a good variety, but big beers were a good portion of the menu. The night before they had the Ithaca Hop Box beers on draft, and luckily they still were available. Add to that Bell's Stout and Two Hearted, Ballast Big Eye IPA, Weihenstephaner, Smutty Pale Ale, DFH American Beauty, Deshutes Mirror Pond, Clown Shoes Tramp Stamp, Goose Island Honkers, and Sierra Nevada Enjoy By were some of the other drafts. Happy hour prices are very good for beers especially the ones they are looking to kick to keg.
Service was good and very knowledgable about the selections. The appetizers we had were very tasty and were listed to pair with a style of beer.
This is a wonderful place and I can consider it one of my favorite craft beer bars I have visited across the country. Defintely put this on your beer destination plan.

Went to TJ's for the first time this past weekend. Small place, but a great atmosphere. It sits back in a strip mall kind of building, so it's a hidden gem.
The brew list is absolutely great. Definitely better than 95% of places I've been to, but it's also not the "best" so-to-speak. Prices are a little high, but it's on the Main Line, so I guess it comes with the territory. Still, wouldn't hurt them to drop the price on some of the brews, as I've seen cheaper prices at other restaurants in the area. TJ's is definitely not a place to sit and hang out all night, unfortunately.
The food and service were absolutely fantastic, and definitely will keep us coming back in the future on occasion.
