2013 limited edition bottle # 138. Purchased in Maine over the summer.
A- Uniformly hazy dark copper colored body that pours with a 2-3 finger soapy, slightly off-white head.
S- rust, metallic, earthy hops, vanilla, caramel, bourbon. When the beer is refrigerator temp the metallic notes are the highlight, with a big bourbon backbone. As the beer warms a lot more caramel, vanilla, and non-astringent bourbon characteristics come through.
T- Earthy hop upfront with a very faint malt and bourbon backbone. Finish is a combination of bourbon, earthy hops, and a faint malt backbone. The finish is dry and very astringent.
M- Medium carbonation with a medium weight body. Mild astringency and mild oily qualities to the body.
O- Overall this is a very earthy BA IPA with a moderate flavor and astringency to it. The beer is almost unbearable at refrigerator temperature-but as it warms the beer is coming to life more. Its an okay beer but not something I would seek out.

A- Hazy yellow orange with a white head that laces nicely.
S- Woody and ma l t tones up front followed by citrus and pine on the back end.
T- When the beer is cold yuengling get a blast of whiskey and oak up front followed by your traditional IPA flavors i rd of pine and a lot of citrus. When the beer warms up the two components blend together nicely.
M- Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
O- Really enjoyable. This is the only Bourbon Barrel aged IPA I've had. I would definitely try another.

From the corked, caged 650 ml. bottle. 2013 batch no. 03145. Sampled on October 25, 2013.
The pour is a hazy medium brown with reddish notes and a big beige silky head that settles back slowly.
The aroma abounds with bourbon and liqueur along with roasted caramel and some pear. For an IPA, the hops are subtle and muted.
The body is bold.
Like the aroma the bourbon leads the pack when it comes to the flavor but the earthy hops are a bit more forward in the taste. The certainly linger longer at the end. Not boozy but it does feel north of 7.6% ABV.

Appearance: Cloudy, garnet, orangey body with 1 cm luminescent off-white froth. Large carbonation apparent in head, with strong retention.
Smell: Well rounded, sweet, hoppy nose. Smells of earthy pine. Big nose Beer.
Taste: Sweet, sticky, piny finish. Bourbon flavors are minimal, though blend with bittering hops to produce a long resinous aftertaste. The beer strikes me as an English IPA, without any citrusy or floral quality.
Mouthfeel: Carbonation is a bit prickly. The bitterness lingers, following a dry finish.
Belch Quality: Big, spicy belching to follow, reactivating hops.
