Served from bottle into a pint glass.

A - Golden amber color, but very light; has a white head that recedes quickly.

S - Faint smells of pumpkin and cinnamon spice

T - The flavor here is very artificial and seeming added as a second thought. There is a very light pumpkin and cinnamon spice on the top, but it tastes like pils with pumpkin floating on top. Mostly plain and boring.

M - Very thin, fairly carbonated.

O - It's easy to drink, but really lacks in the flavor department. I do have to note, however, that I tried it straight out of the bottle and it wasn't terrible. I could see this at any fall casual party, but nothing to take seriously.

[Best served in a Lager glass]

The pour was a sparkling clear light amber with an average sized (1-2 finger) white fizzy head that quickly dissipated and had almost no lacing to speak of.

The aroma was extremely light of a light bread malt and a doughy yeast with very mild hints of nutmeg, pumpkin, cinnamon and some brown sugar.

The taste was super lightly sweet with an almost non existent hint of nutmeg and brown sugar at first. Then it became ever so lightly bitter with a hint of cinnamon and a light touch of pumpkin at the finish, with the flavor disappearing almost immediately after the swallow.

Mouthfeel was incredibly light in body and very watery in texture with a fizzy carbonation.

Overall an extremely light beer with the flavor being very subtle with no lingering effect at all. For a Pumpkin Ale the aroma was nice and well balanced, but it lacked slightly in flavor and body.

In a pint glass:

A: very clear, golden-orange color with an inch and a half thick, fluffy white head

S: pumpkin, some cinnamon and nutmeg, some ginger

T: previously mentioned flavors with added coriander

M: medium, slightly sessionable, carbonation assaults the tongue and mouth more so than other "pumpkin ales", watery aftertaste and a dull finish

O: just an average pumpkin ale, it was much better combined as a Black & Tan with the Blue Fin Stout by Shipyard

Served from draught into a pint glass.

A - Golden colored with a thin white head.

S - Smells of biscuit and spices.

T - Brown sugar and spices. Aggressively flavored, almost artificially so.

M - Thin and bubbly.

D - Easy to quaff one, too sweet and spicy to drink more than that.

12 ounce bottle aggressively poured into a shaker pint. Finger of fizzy white head that quickly dies sitting atop a clear, pale, golden body. Very minimal lacing and very bubbly.

Aroma is very wheaty and puts off a hint of a pie-crust-like scent. Light nutmeg and allspice. A bit of cinnamon and a somewhat outputting diacetyl aroma. No pumpkin really evident, just the spices.

Flavor is kinda musky, although the spices are a fairly healthy dose. What is underneath the spices, however, is completely unimpressive. A bit bready.

Mouthfeel is very thin and watery, but heavily carbonated. Sort of like club soda, and not in a good way.

I've had some good pumpkin ales this year, some bad ones, and plenty in between. This definitely falls in the bad category. The only way to make this beer drinkable would be to keep the bottle and change everything else.

A - Light in color, an almost transparent citrus look to it.

S - Mainly pumpkin pie spices. Some cinnamon and nutmeg. Didn't find any pumpkin in the nose.

T - Spice in the front, although it seems almost forced. No authentic pumpkin I could find here. Worse, there is an off-tasting, almost sourness in the finish that lingers.

MF - Light bodied, tastes like 4%.. A little over carbonated. Drinkable for sure, but not certain that's a good thing.

O - A disappointing pick. No pumpkin, perhaps overly spiced, and an unpleasant finish. I am unfortunately regretting the six pack.

Everywhere I go I see box after box of pumpkin beer. Folks talk about Shipyard Pumpkinhead on tap with the rim dipped in brown sugar as the height of fall beer enjoyment. Nothing about this appeals to me but I figured I should give one a try.

My wife and I stopped at a nice Haverhill pub called The Peddler's Daughter. Had the barkeep pour me a draught (less the brown sugar). Appearance was light brown and fizzy. Smells like a Yankee Candle. I was scared at this point.

Tastes like you dumped an apple pie spice bag in a glass of beer. No pumpkin flavor. It was so bad I left half the pint and ordered a Harpoon IPA to get the taste out of my mouth.

I don't get it...

I was rather disappointed in this year's Pumpkinhead. Shipyard was once at the top of the mainstream pumpin beer world but this year it lacks body and pumpkin flavor.

relatively watery with a somewhat overbearing spice taste to it, not what i expected from Shipyard.

ST: 12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. The bottle does not list the ABV, but does have a DBD.

A: Apple cider or dark champagne gold and very clear. Speaking of champagne, it has an insane amount of carbonation which keeps a half-a-finger nail of white head on top for a while. I must stress, this might be the most racing carbonation I have ever seen in a beer. It does not look like a fall pumpkin brew.

S: Some allspice, cinnamon, and nutmeg dominate the aroma.

T: Starts out with mostly nutmeg and cinnamon, some watery pumpkin joins in the finish.

M: A bit watery on the back, but with plenty of carbonation zip (it reminded me of soda water).

O: I was on the forums a month or so ago and one of the topics was favorite pumpkin brews. It has been awhile since I read the forum, but when I saw this beer at the store today, I could have sworn it was raved about by someone. Luckily, I only picked up one bottle instead of a six pack. This pumpkin beer has too much carbonation, a watery finish, and the pumpkin spices taste artificial and added in rather than blended to be a part of the beer. This is not a recommended beer.

a-Pours a pretty usual golden colour with minimal head...but that could be cause of the glasswear and not the beer.

s-The traditional pumpkin flavours....cinnamon, clove....nutmeg...not a ton of sweetness.

t-Cinnamon...slight hops...very light sweetness.

m-good for the abv.

o-decent beer...there is better Pumpkin beers but I liked this one for sure.

Poured into my Founders snifter.

Light amber in color. White head that is about a half a fingers thickness. Goes away quickly. Leaves a light ring around the glass. The bubbles dance against the light.

Smell is of clove, cinnamon and pumpkin. But really it smells more like vomit. Honestly it's making my stomach turn.

Tastes like clove and shitty pumpkin pie. This is truly awful. It is fairly light in the mouth and easy to drink, but the taste is so damn terrible there is no point. My drain is going to enjoy the rest of this.

A - Pours a clear orange with a one finger head. Dissipates to nothing relatively quickly.

S - Raw pumpkin, cloves, and cinnamon. Heavy sourness mixed with mild sweetness in the background. As it warms, the rotting pumpkin in the taste comes out as well.

T - Starts out sweet, not much flavor. Followed by the cloves and cinnamon. Then, suddenly, you are hit with sourness and rotting pumpkin seeds.

M - Light body and medium carbonation.

O - This is by far the worst pumpkin ale I have ever had. Couldn't even make it through more than a quarter a glass with help. One of the (very) few beers I have had to pour. With the wide selection of great pumpkin ales out there, pick something else.

Appearance - Pours a very clear, golden-orange color with an inch and a half thick, fluffy white head.

Smell - Pumpkin and apple pie.. Cinnamon and nutmeg, maybe some ginger. Definitely smells like a spicy brew.

Taste - I taste some coriander and slight hints of cinnamon. Pumpkin for sure along with some ginger, nutmeg, and clove. It's a pretty sweet beer.

Mouthfeel - It has a pretty thick body with quite a bit of carbonation.

Overall - If you're into pumpkin ales you'll definitely like this beer. It's better than most of the ones I've tried.

Poured from 12 oz. bottle into a Sam Adams perfect pint glass.

Appearance: Bright and clear golden orange with lots of rising bubbles. Big five finger white foam head with decent retention. Moderate amount of lacing.

Smell: Sweet pale malts and wheat grains with some hints of spices including cinnamon, ginger, and clove. Pumpkin smell is very light. Spices stand out over everything else.

Taste: Like the smell, sweet taste of wheat grains and pale malts with some spice. Light hints of cinnamon, ginger, and clove. Pumkpkin is very hard to find here. Taste is way to light.

Mouthfeel: Light bodied with a carbonation on the higher end. Very watery.

Overall: A pretty mediocre pumpkin beer. Some nice flavors but way too light.

App- The beer is a pale straw color. The head is bright white and falls from one finger almost immediately. This beer is audible it is so carbonated.

Smell- For as unappealing as this thing looks, it is actually not a terrible flavor profile. The nose is extremely spicy, and that is appealing. There is loads of cinnamon, nutmeg, and sweet caramel malt. It is like baked pumpkin pie, not actual pumpkin. If that bothers you, you won't like this.

Taste- The nose transfers to the drink rather well. Although, it mostly just the cinnamon that I notice. The finish brings out the biscuit malt and a bitter alcohol flavor, like a cider. This is supposed to be a beer...Get rid of that apple cider and boozy finish and this might be an okay to decent taste.

Mouth feel- This beer isn't as bubbly as I thought, but it is still pretty light.

Overall- I like the intense herbal smell, but everything else really needs work. The taste needs to be less apple cider and way more creamy and full.

A - This pours a clear lightish orange amber color. There is a finger of white head on top. The head recedes pretty fast leaving a few specs of lace behind.

S - The nose starts off with a mild grainy aroma. There is some light pumpkin and spice aromas. Also, there is some sweetness. The smell is really reminding me of an adjunct lager with pumpkin and spice, not so good.

T - The taste pretty much follows the nose. It is like an adjunct lager with sweetness and light spice. There is a bit of pumpkin flavor too. Some how most of the flavor seems to vanish by the back end of the beer leaving a weird aftertaste.

M - This has a lighter body and average carbonation. It goes down easy, and has a light feel to it. There is a little bit of spice and sweetness. It's a bit watery as well.

O - The drinkability is not very good. Like I said before, it is like an adjunct lager with fall spices, which is weird considering it is an ale. I've never really experienced anything like it. I would say that this is a beer that I would stay away from.
