A: Pours a fluffy 1 finger head that is very airy and fades quickly. Golden orange wheat like reddish color with lots of bubbles rising in my SA pint glass from the etch in the bottom.

N: Nose has lots of sweet malts and almost some malt extract like aromas. A little nuttiness and very light hop aromas, and hints of roast.

T: Taste is similar. Lots of sweet malts, caramel, and malt extract flavors. Some roasted flavors and crystal malt. Syrupy sweetness. Some hop flavors and bitterness. Some nuttiness and hints of spices, and a little orange peer bitterness.

M: Medium body with syrupy feel, decent carbonation.

F: Somewhat bitter, but the lingering sweet malty extract like flavor seems to linger with a little roast and lots of syrup. It does dry a bit, but still has sweet syrup flavors and caramel. A little nutmeg lingering too with more nuttiness.

Acquired from TheManiacalOne so a big THANK YOU goes out to him.
Consumed 11/28
Poured in to a pint glass

A: This beer pours a murky, deep copper color with a one finger of off white khaki foamy head.

S: Nose is big caramel and toffee flavors with minor light citrus notes.

T: Taste is a big candied caramel and toffee. Lots and lots of malt flavoring, lighter citrus notes and then some more caramel.

M: Medium body, medium carbonation, crisp at first with a sticky finish.

O: Goes down easy, ok tasting, not too filling, overall a decent beer, better than average, but not one I would sit with for a while.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a light copper color, with a thin off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains honey, caramel, some fruit, some spices and a little hops.

T: The taste starts out bready with flavors of grain and a hearty malt character. Then some sweet flavors of caramel, honey, spices and a little fruit come in. The hops presence is mild but complementary and brings some balance. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly sweet.

M: Smooth and a little crisp, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

D: A little tasty, goes down ok, not too filling, mild kick, decent representation of style, it's not a bad beer but there are several others in the style that I would pick first.

Poured out of a bottle into a tasting glass. Served cool.

A-garnet body and an off white head

S-butterscotch front, yeast, bread and spice

T-spice, strong cherry flavor

M-medium

D-No thanks. No beer enough. Too much other stuff going on. I will pass on this.

A - Coppery amber color with a rather quickly dissipating head. Nice carbonation level.

S - Malt and honey on the nose. Faint hops. Baked bread. maybe a little raisin note.

T - The malt/baked bread character was very up front. the hops are restrained which works for the beer. Reminds me of a scotch ale in many ways. Honey notes are there. A little prickly hop note on the end.

M - Thicker than expected. Some sweetness lingers. The hops build up to break the coating on the tongue.

D - I like this. I have had too many spiced winter warmers that is more spice than the beer character. This is a pleasant pint that I would easily drink again when I want a malty brew with out going to dark.

Pours a nice brownish-amber color with a one-finger head into my glass. Not sure what to make of it but nothing abnormal here.

Aroma is full of sweet malt and spice and it's also a bit smoky. Seems typical for the style. Nothing offensive detected.

Taste is full of sweet, spicy malt that seems rather bland at first. Has a bit of a buttery feel to but is otherwise uninspired.

Mouthfeel is full of lingering sweet, spiced malt with that buttery reminder on the tongue.

Not horrible but rather middle-of-the-road. Drinkable but I don't think I could tolerate more than one. Worth a try if you want to explore the spectrum of winter warmers out there.

Modest head that leaves spotty lace. Deep amber color and fully clear.

Rich caramel aroma. Slightly sweet. No notable hop.

The flavor is like the aroma. Creamy body with a low level of carbonation. Lots of English-styled flavor--nearly all malt with a touch of light hop at the very end.

Out of a bottle this Winter Warmer was a chestnut/garnet color with one-finger of beige head. The retention was moderate and the lacing quite good. The aroma was an appealing blend of caramel malt, candy sugar, nuts and toasted malt. The flavors were nutty at first, then it got a little sweeter with caramel malt, some earthy malt and touches of wood and some spices. The flavor profile was ok, but a little muddled, as though the elements were not working together. The mouthfeel was a touch foamy and oily, the body medium and the carbonation the same. Ok for a Shipyard product, but one could do better for your buck.

Serving Notes: Hefe glass, 45F
Aroma: almost none, light earthy hops. As the beer warmed I did get some carmel malt.
Appearance: quickly dissipating head, light right of foam. Clear, brownish-amber.
Mouthfeel: Rather light for a "winter" ale. Medium carbonation.
Taste: Spicy notes, light molasses flavor. Light alcohol flavors.
Drinkability: Very light bodied and drinkable ale although not what I was expecting.

Pours a coppery color with very little in the way of foam of any kind. Smells like a fairly typical example of a winter warmer, lots of spices, nutmeg especially. Very crisp flavor, theres some citrus in here which is entirely unexpected. Malty citrus, Im revising the taste to a 3.5! A solid beer overal, actually one of the nicer winter warmers Ive had.

A: Poured amber red. Small head with no retention.

S: Syrupy malt with honey, currant, tiny bit of mulling spices. Pretty thin overall though.

T: Crisp with a nice spice balance. I despise warmers that are all clove. The entire flavor, malt, hop, spice, etc is weak and kindof bland. Negligible malt profile.

M: Sits meekly on the front of the palate. Doesn't coat, fairly thin.

D: Could drink a few of these, but it tastes like more of a weak, slightly spicy english brown than any holiday ale of any weight or charisma.

From a 6 pack purchased at the local Hannafords. In a pint glass the beer was a red amber color with a medium tan head. Tepid aroma, barely there malt and spice. Tepid taste, too, although cinnamon was a strong presence. Too spiced for me, and not enough flavor.
