Opaque, even in full sun, but with mahogany edges. Tan head with very good retention.
A malty beer with plenty of natural blueberry aroma, more subtle dluebery flavor and a noticeable hops presence.
Superbly balanced flavor profile: bitter-sweet, as well as having an excellent level of blueberry.
An Imperial Blueberry Ale. Rich and flavorful without being at all challenging. One of the highlights of new (to me) beers at the 2011 HOTober Beer Fest.

A- pours a very dark, clear ruby with a thick khaki head. Excellent head retention, sheets of lacing.
S- blueberry jam and chocolate. It's pretty intense. It does smell sweet.
T- chocolate covered blueberries, coffee. Some hop bitterness is present in the finish along with a little alcohol.
M- full bodied, creamy, velvety carbonation. Warming finish.
O- thoroughly enjoyable.

Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer is served a super and surprisingly dark brownish blue color with a one finger head of tan colored foam. The head has a decent level of retention, fading to leave a trace of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the beer massive of a blueberry smell. The blueberry is rather authentic with it giving a rather nice chocolate covered blueberry (with emphasis on the blueberry) smell when mixed with the lighter roasted, cocoa and coffee notes of the beer.
Taste – The taste begins with a big showing of a roasted malt and cocoa flavor with a rather strong showing of blueberry as well. The taste is drier upfront, but as the flavor advances, more and more blueberry flavor comes to the tongue sweetening up the brew a bit. As the blueberry upfront was of a more authentic flavor, as it intensifies more later in the taste profile, it takes on a more blueberry syrup nature. While the blueberry intensifies so too does the cocoa tastes, leaving a rather thick chocolate covered blueberry flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thicker and more syrupy side with a carbonation level that is on the lower side. For the chocolate covered blueberry flavors of the brew both were fantastic creating a very dessert like feel.
Overall – Not overly sweet with a good blend of chocolate and blueberry, all while hiding the 9 % abv rather well. This is an interesting one and a good one to try.
