Fuggles is a single-hopped, dry, crisp ale that is wonderfully balanced and deceptively smooth.

Bottle into pint glass: Poured a golden-orange with a reasonably dense head that stayed around long enough to drink if you were quick with your first few sips/swigs/gulps. Lots of mild lemon and orange aroma with a thin malt lying beneath. Unfortunately, the malt doesn't really assert itself in the flavor of the beer, but the hops do take a turn toward the mildly buttery. Mouthfeel leaves little to talk about, but I think I'd have trouble convincing my stomach that this tastes like a medium-bodied beer, because it feels somewhat heavier once it makes its way down there. Overall, not a bad beer, but too heavy for sessions, and for a supposedly English-style IPA, this one doesn't adequately differentiate itself from its more acidic American cousins.
I don't know how widely available this beer is in the US, but if possible, I'd opt for Tremont IPA (owned by Shipyard) which, if not a truely representative English IPA, at least differentiates itself better with significant butterscotch flavors that the Shipyard IPA only begins to hint at.

On tap at The Good Life in Massapequa... Medium gold color with a finger of ivory foam... Remarkably unremarkable beer - had some grain and fruit impressions, maybe muted citrus among them, and a little bit of earthy pine... Medium body felt a bit tacky and sluggish? I'm a finisher, but I left half of this in the glass.

On a bit of an IPA ride lately I brought this home as part of a pick six and was eager to give this one a try. Poured a medium/dark opaque orange with a nice white head but the head didn't last. Had a nice smell but not the hoppy smell that most IPA's have. Just a average earthy smell could not pick up any citrus at all. Taste was nothing special. Slight bitterness with a dry almost metallic finish. Feel was not unpleasant but far from what I was hoping for. The fuggle hop certainly is not what Im used to in an IPA . Overall I was not real impressed but again it was not what I have been used to in an IPA.I haven't tried a lot of English IPA's so maybe my rating is a little harsh. Not bad but not my favorite.

A very, very average IPA. It pours a hazy copper with a slim head. The scent is subtle hints of earth. The taste is lacking in hop presence a little for an IPA. Overall it's an average beer - nothing too fancy.

Darker yellow, 1/3" white head. Gotta love freshness dates. Aroma was whoof, dog shit and butter diaectyl like notes, even if not huge.
Taste was mild in every regard, hops, malt, d infection, earthiness. Not impressed.
