Bottle: Poured a dark color ale with a medium size foamy head with OK retention and some minimal lacing. Aroma consists of roasted malt with lots of green hoppy notes mix in with some light bourbon notes. Taste is also a weird mix between deep roasted malt notes with some residual sugars with grainy notes and some green hoppy hops notes with a bourbon dominant finish. Body is about average with good carbonation. Complex and unique barleywine but maybe a tad too harsh at the end of the day.

341ml longneck
A) Pours with a big, tan head that settles to a tight, creamy lacing on top. Opaque body with reddish hue. Sticky lacing on the drink down.
S) Pungent. Hints of brettanomyces. Dark tee fruit - apple, plum. Yeasty.
T) Roasty notes. Alcohol. Hints of clove. Raisin. Grainy. Slightly astringent in the finish.
M) Chewy. Full body. Alcohol warmth.
O) This is a bold sucker-punch-grow-hair-on-your-chest brew. This is not necessary to my preference, but the Belgian notes really work with this and add some great complexity to the taste profile.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a stemmed tulip glass.
AKA: Vin d'Orge Noir

A: Pours a clear, dense black with a big, creamy mocha head that lasts forever eventually falling to a thick, sudsy collar leaving lots of lacing in its path.

S: It has a very interesting nose, an enticing mix of IPA and barleywine. The nose starts off IPA with lots of grapefruit and a bit of pine, but it transitions to malt, massive sweet caramel malt, vanilla, alciohol and nice roasted chocolate malt.

T: On the palate the grain bill strikes first with big, rich, sweet caramel malt, vanilla, toffee flavors which are followed closely and balanced by a big hoppy backbone. It finished with the lingering flavors of the dark roasted malts, chocolate and actually starts to dry out.

M: Nice big body and plenty of carbonation make this brew smooth, rich and creamy.

O: This is a very interesting beer and could easily be called a triple black IPA. The bourbon barrel aging doesn’t add that boozy bourbon I normally associate with a BBA beer, but does provide the subtle vanilla and toffee flavor and perhaps the age allows the flavors to meld and mellow. The hop characteristics are still in the forefront though which makes me think it is a blend of old beer and new. All this results in a unique and delicious beer.
