Friend of mine from Quebec brought this for me. Pours a cloudy orange with incredibly thick white head. Lacing is all over the glass. Some herbal hops and bready malt smell, with something that is slightly off. Flavour is pretty mild, slight bitterness and sweetness. Medium bodied carbonation. A fairly easy drinking beer, nothing to seek out though.

Good starting head which takes a while to settle. Initially leaves some webby lace. The liquid is deep, dark gold and is also crystal clear.

There's a stew-like element to the smell. Muted hop is the secondary aroma.

Thinner than I expected; the carbonation is bit high. Dry, biscuity malt flavor. The hop comes at the end but does not overwhelm. The aftertaste is lightly bitter.

Look: not a huge head on mine like others said, poured into my Sam Adams glass. Beige copper ish, like the color of the label.

Smell: mmm this is weird, really the first thing I have is canned peas, not a pleasant smell. Don't get much else cause I am so concentrated with the peas.

Taste: nothing great, pretty carb'ed for a bitter really was not what I was looking for. I wish I had a best before date maybe I would give this a retry cause at 4.7 this beer would not really be expected to hold us well. A half decent bitter backbone in the beer.

Mouthfeel: too much carbonation not awe full but not a bitter.

Drinkabilitty: not the drinkability of a bitter

Not great, maybe fresh would be better.

Whoa! Crazy huge impossible head. This one needs to be poured cold or else. Looks good once you get it into the glass. Clear orange gold with a moderate head and good lacing.

Very fruity nose, especially of orange, and sweet caramel malt. Fruit and earth to taste, some bitterness that lingers. An overall sweet character that is a little odd for a bitter. Long lasting citrus peel bitterness.

Decent enough to be worth a try.

Head dissipates fairly quickly but does leave some lace. Nice copper color.

This beer has a somewhat grainy aroma, with a touch of butterscotch, that is its least appealing characteristic. There is a good hop bitterness, appropriate to the style, with some citrus flavor on a light body.

A decent refreshing bitter.

Purchased at Pub St. Alexandre in Vieux Quebec. Poured into a sleeve.

A: Light brown, clear, small head, not enough lacing.
S: Raw wheat dominates the nose. Eventually a more refined malt comes through.
T: Biscuit malt, but light. Quite enjoyable. Balanced, maybe a bit more bitterness, but not much could be beneficial.
M: Crisp, light on the palate. Carbonation is low enough.
D: Great beer,

341ml bottle. Been wanting to buy this one for a few years now.
A- Generous clumpy head disappears as you drink. Not much left halfway through. Very nice true amber. Big bubbles rising. No lacing (Realy think my glass was beer-clean)
S- Carrot, (I don't think I was influenced by the label..). Cherry, Citrus hops, reminds me of a wheat beer.
T- Does not taste like a wheat beer. Really taste like bittersweet bubblegum. Pretty sure it's from the hops. Grassy hops.
M- Every sip foams up in your mouth. Not dry.
D- High. I had it fairly warm so I'm not sure how good it would be to session but I do want to buy it again. And would suggest it to anyone - craft lover or not.

Love the bubblegum taste. Not too expensive. Success.

An English Bitter with a nice label, this 341ml brown bottle was bought at Lavigne.

It has a nice golden colour, a nice white head crown the beer and last very long. It has a nice hoppy aroma. In the mouth it has some grainy and sugar taste, unfortunatly, but the finish is very good with a nice long bitter taste. Overall a good bitter ale but some sweetness

The label's not my thing, but whatever. Pours a nice amber brown with ample head, nice and pillowy. Good head retention

The nose is floral hops, multigrain bread and just a touch of cooked corn. Doesn't smell great or much like an English bitter at all.

For an English bitter the hops are off, more of the floral metal of noble hops than English hops, and it's just kind of a bit tart and not really happening for me, there's little sweetness or fruitiness to speak of and if anything I find the malt grainy.

There's some decent carbonation and yeah. This is a pretty below average beer and really I think I'll just post this and down the remaining 1/3 of this beer and get on with my life.

Tasted on March 8th, 2009.

Color: Crystal clear amber color.
Smell: Floral tea?! probably the hops in this beer produce this strange but very beautiful smell!
Taste: Earthy bitter taste. Just like Corte Real from Le Naufrageur. Special taste I would say but not bad and I like it. However, the taste is simple... nothing complex here.
Mouthfeel: Thin bodied.
Drinkability: Very easy to drink. Good beer to have in the fridge.

Poured a medium orange / amber color with a large sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, fruity, and tea. Tastes of tea, lighter fruitiness, caramel, and lightly earhty. Thinner body with higher carbonation.

12oz bottle purchased for $1.99, likely from Marche Joanette in Montreal (or Verdun, whatever). Pours a clear medium copper with lots of head. Lacing is nice. Aroma is not. Really no hops in the nose to speak of. First taste is passable. It does have some hops, but they don't taste particularly English.

A - clear, light copper, medium sized off white head. A bit of lace sticks to my tulip glass.

S - light caramel malt, touch of earthy hops, got just a slight wiff of molasses/chocolate. After tasting the diacetyl, I went back to the aroma, and can pick it out quite easily.

T - carmelly sweetness up front (hint of diacetyl), abruptly switches over to earthy hop flavour. Finish is toasty malt and more earthy hop bitterness. This particular type of toast finish reminds me of cardboard, it's very dry. I've picked it up in other beers, and don't particularly care for it.

M - Body is relatively light, but there does seem to be a bit of slickness from the diacetyl. Carbonation is low which is good for the style.

D - I wouldn't exactly call it a trainwreck, as the flaws are only minimal, but it's probably not something I'd seek out again.

Not a badly brewed beer (the touch of diacetyl is ok for style), but it seems a little haphazard. The individual parts do not seem to work in harmony with one another. The recipe needs a little retooling, and all will be well.

Thanks to Mattt for the bottle!

A - Orangey-gold colour of peach juice, with some heavy carbonation leaving lacy head.
S - Nice fruity scent of peaches, oranges mixed in with the toffeelike smells of caramel.
T - Hoppy to start and actually quite bitter. Subtle hints of citrus come through to brighten, leading into a long lasting aftertaste of bitter dryness. Really quite refreshing and very hoppy throughout.
M - Very nice feel, quite zingy and light, but very drying.
D - Quite the sessionable beer. I am certain I could have several and rather quickly I might add.

341ml bottle poured into a pint glass. Thanks to matt for sending this to me with CanBIF3.

Just slightly hazey orange-copper brew pours with a 1/2 inch head that retains well despite the lazy, almost non existent carbonation piercing it. A little bit of sticky lacing as well. Aroma is juicy and apple-like with a bit of floral character to it. Light citrus as well. There's a good dose of aroma hops here, surprisingly
pungent. A bit of earth and some caramel and buttery notes. More hop-forward than I was expecting.

Taste is, again, juicy with some apple and some bitter, more grapefruitlike flavours. Nutty, earthy, with a stringent bitterness and a bit of woodiness as well. Flavour is clean and enjoyable, albeit uncomplex. Mouthfeel is medium-light with a mild carbonation. A bit creamy and dries in the finish. Very drinkable in quantity, an enjoyable Quebecois stab at an English Bitter.

A: Golden-bronze, fluffy white head, some retention & lace.

S: Floral hops, light grassy spice & bread.

T: Floral, metallic, slightly earthy, modest bitterness, hint of tartness.

M: Light to moderate body, moderate carbonation.

D: I don't find it very enticing, but if you liked the flavour, it would certainly be sessionable.

A serviceable bitter, bottle courtesy of Crushinator. A good head and sessionable ABV. Mouthfeel is medium or less, and there is both pleasant understated carbonation, and below average bitterness. Significant malt, and fruit esters. Had again on tap at Sweet brown,Festival Bières et Saveurs 2008. Good bitterness, lacey, review I will go with.
