Fresh bottle from Veux-Tu. Mother of all floaters, with tons of solid green hop looking matter. A lasting head. Mild hop aroma. IBU and bitterness is right there, getting the Nelson citrus fruity. This could have been good drinkability, cut rather cautious.

Big thank you to Caudalie for this, another selection from my CANBIF box.

Appearance. Pours a hazy gold-amber with a finger of thick, cream coloured head.

Smell. Pine, grapefruit, orange and plenty of tropical fruits. Some grainy malts come through but the fruitiness of this one is especially pleasant.

Taste. Grainy malts and caramel with big pine, oranges and grapefruit rinds along with some pineapple and other tropical fruits and a nice big bitter finish.

Mouthfeel. Medium+ body, below medium smooth carbonation.

Overall. People say QC doesn't put out nice IPAs, well this my friends proves that wrong to me. A great IPA that I would drink often if it was available here in BC. Thanks again Caudalie!

Bottle: Poured a lightly hazy pale orangey color ale with a rather large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of citrus hoppy notes with light fruity ester. Taste is dominated by quite strong hoppy notes with some citrus notes and some dry bitter notes. Malt presence is felt but doesn’t play a huge role in the flavours profile. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Well brewed though a bit below my expectation coming from this brewer. The Nelson Sauvin and Amarillo hops were not a dominant as I would have expected.

Poured from a 341ml. bottle, no freshness info but it just came out so it's fresh baby!

Appearance: Body is a glorious deep peach color, good 2-3 finger head with some nice lacing.

Smell: Piney, hoppy goodness; ripe peaches, assorted fruits, very nice.

Taste: Full flavor, piney, hoppy as hell, loads of mango, bitter orange, brown sugar, wooden plank.

Mouthfeel: Incredibly well balanced, easy to drink with a smoothness that's apparent yet still has a pervasive bitterness to counteract.

Overall: Quebec is slowly getting to the level of America-style IPAs and Dunham is at the front of the pack. Well done!

Bottle from Peluso in Montreal. From notes.

A - Cloudy orangey dark golden pour with no visible carbonation. Creamy one finger white head. Good lace rings and a half finger of retention.

S - Lot's of citrus, lot's of pineapple and lemon. Nice.

T - Grassy as hell. Dry fresh hops. Grapefruit, citrus, less pineapple, leafy and vegatal hops. Floral.

M - Very bitter, good carbonation, medium to full body.

O/D - No wonder it's so bitter, it's 133 IBU according to the bottle. A pretty well done DIPA. Maybe a touch too bitter, but I enjoyed it. Good flavour.

Poured into both a Duvel Tulip and large wine glass for comparison.
No bottle date, but recent I am assuming (the past 2 months). Served out of the fridge.
IBU=133 / ABV 8.6%

A: Hazy orange, burnt amber, decent head with an aggressive pour, but dies off pretty quickly. Decent white lace sitting on top though...

S: On first pour, floral but as it warms, strange herbal smell, can't quite place the aroma...but maybe yeast/bready that gets stronger as it warms, perhaps a bit grassy.... then more traditional notes, piney, citrus...sweet

T: Very sweet, bready malts, bit of caramel, then lots of hops, some citrus some floral, but mostly a lot of bitter resin/pine at the end and the aftertaste even finishes with the same some more lingering bready taste.

M: Med-high carbonation at the start, fairly smooth, but as it warms gets very strong in the alcohol department, and quite oily.... but perhaps with an IBU of 133 and the amount of hops to get that, this is to be expected.

O: Overall I'm a bit on the fence with this one. The other person sharing it really likes it, and some qualities I quite like about it, but I feel it still needs some refinement... They've only been making this for awhile so I don't expect Heady smoothness, but needs some work. That said it's hard to find decent Double IPA's in Quebec and this one is not bad, it certainly packs a punch and won't give up without a fight, shows off the hops and alcohol, so if that is your thing you might really enjoy. Worth a try and hopefully they keep working on what I think is a good base. My major complaints would be the smell is a bit strange, and the hop profile could be smoothed out a bit more.
