Great mix of two beers bringing the funk and farmhouse notes of the saison with the hops and the smoothness of the ipa. The beer opens up to a well mannered farmhouse ale with a long finish tempered with the hops. The citrus notes lighten up the beer and work with the Brett to pull it all together. The barrel aging is not really apparent but it surely helps meld the two beers into one

Bottle: Poured a hazy hay color ale with a super large pure white foamy head with great retention and really great lacing. Aroma consists of very dry notes with some hay and light Bretty finish. Taste is a super great mix of Brett notes with some barnyard notes with light hay floral notes with a super dry finish. Body is full with perfect carbonation. One of the best Saison I tasted with a perfect mix of drinkability and complexity. Wish I could drink this on a regular basis.

The beer pours a dull golden yellow with a thin foamy white head around the perimeter and fine sediment. The nose is a bouquet of sour dough, lemon, and a touch of acetone. While drinking there is a pungent, tart, yeast presence upfront followed by quick transition into a tannin/hoppy bitterness that lingers. It's a really drinkable saison with great yeast, oak, and grain flavors blending, though the bitterness does become a bit heavy on the palate. This medium-bodied saison has a reserved grain sweetness, pronounced yeast character, little alcohol, and profoundly dry bitterness. It absolutely hits the spot for a big, oaked saison, but some characteristics (such as the lingering, palate-coating bitterness) make it less than perfect.

Thanks to David for this bottle. Poured in to teku glass.

A - Translucent, hazy bright yellow; orange towards the centre with a thin layer of white head. Carbonation appeared low on the pour.

S - Funk, hay, sweet bread, lemon zest, apple, spice and yeast esters. Fairly typical saison nose.

T - Funk and hay flavours up front with a big lemon zest presence that give way to a breadiness mid-palate. There are some grassy/herbal/spicy notes present along with a slightly noticeable bitterness that are likely from the IPA addition. The finish is dry.

M - Medium body. Dry. Light carbonation.

O - This was a unique and interesting beer. I didn't specifically get the tea notes, but perhaps that is what I was noticing that I couldn't pin point. While this was enjoyable there was something about it that didn't allow the flavours to come together as I had hoped.

Picked up at Dunham's 2nd Anniversary bash.

Poured from a 750ml. bottle, no #freshbeer info.

Appearance: Glass fills with foam but recedes just enough to reveal a yellow gold body while still retaining a very healthy head. Mountainous, bubbling foam with spotted lacing and huge chunks glued to the glass.

Smell: Guava puree, musty, light tea, tangerines, very floral.

Taste: Plush fruit mixed with a good tea presence. Various herbs lend a rustic, spicy feel. Has a bit of a white wine oak flavor.

Mouthfeel: Lush, juicy at first. Dryness comes on midway and really provides a clean finhs.

Overall: Delicate yet assertive. Excellent idea of combining these beers.
