Bottle: Poured a clear black color ale with a large foamy head with good retention with some light lacing. Aroma of roasted malt with light black chocolate with some subtle whisky notes. Taste is also dominated by light whiskey notes with some black chocolates and roasted malt with light residual sugar notes from the maple syrup. Body is quiet light for style with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. I am not sure what the hype is about – I thought this was a bit thin for style with not enough whiskey notes.

Special thanks to hoppypocket for delivering this to us in another great trade.
A:Deeply clear black brown topped with a camel tan head. Retention is standardly minimal with only a slight hold onto the edge - overall a rich looking drink that stands up well to a hearty meal.
S: Richly toasted malts highlighted with wood whisky barrels, charred caramel and toffee, smoky peat and alcohol esters follow that gives weight to the scent.
T: Warming whisky up front with charred toffee and molasses, notes of espresso and dry coco finish. Overall the whisky is pleasantly there front to back.
M: Medium bodied that holds well onto the palette. Warming with alcohol esters and only a pop of carbonation on the front end.
O: Nice pairing of the porter style with whisky notes that matched excellently with a solid meal. Fully and rich, unapologetic toasted malts and whisky boldness.

A: Deep brown, black with a light tan head, great retention and lace.
S: Woodsy, brown sugar, coffee, hint of whiskey booze.
T: Molasses, coffee, wood, caramelized raisins, alcohol comes across more like Sambuca than whiskey, solid bitterness.
M: Incredibly smooth with a light roasted acidty in the finish.
O: An exquisite sipper, bottle may be a bit large.
Thanks to Caudalie!

Very smart strong porter. Thick dark brown appearance,a little retained head, not so much Canadian whiskey, enough to generate a Decent aroma, a hint of whiskey. Above average mouthfeel. Excellent porter. Like a big beer, very good with food, fish and meat. Very good drinkability.
