A stick-to-your-ribs full bodied stout that is sure to warm you with it's roasty finish. Brewed with flaked oats, giving it a velvety smooth feel, chocolate notes and a touch of sweetness.

Standard basic Oatmeal Stout in which this version is a little weak but pretty much on point but I have come to prefer when a brewer adds a this or that or some tweak to it that makes it their own.

Oh man I could have swore I reviewed this abomination already. Summary: Cranberry Sour Oatmeal Stout (unintentional).
Claims of a silver medal at the GABF. Sweet, I like oatmeal stouts. Pours dark brown, doesn't really make much of a head, a mere film-esque head around 1/16". The aroma was cranberries. A little bit of an "uh oh" is creeping into my mind about now.
Taste, aw shit, this is obviously infected. Cranberry sour is about all you taste. Forget about roasted malt and oat smoothness, chewiness. The body is all thinned out and the taste is pretty abhorrent. Bitter burnt cranberries drive the taste train, good job bacteria.
This seems to be a constant thing for this beer. And that is fine if you wanna do the predictable brewer 'its not infected' play. Fine. Still tastes like cranberry dog shit. Either way, hard pass.

From old, undated notes. Drank on draft.
Nearly pitch black; some light passes through at the edges.
Very little head; minimal lacing.
Smells of sherry & dark fruit. No oatmeal in the nose.
Thin mouthfeel.
Taste follows the nose; I would've guessed this was a brown ale aged in oak sherry barrels.
Interesting but underwhelming.

Pours a black color. 1/2 inch head of a tan color. Good retention and slight lacing. Smells of sweet malt, oatmeal, slight pale malt, hint of hop, hint of roasted malt, and a hint of chocolate. Fits the style of an American Stout, Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of slight roasted malt, sweet malt, hint of hop, slight oatmeal, and a hint of chocolate. Overall, average appearance, good aroma, body, and blend.

Pours pitch black, small tannish head of foam, some lacing.
Light smell. Some mild bitterness from roasted malt and oats with a strange bit of sweetness.
Light oats and roasted malt but not as dry as I was hoping for. Again, it has a slight sweetness like that from a Milk Stout.
Carbonation is okay but the body is thin.
One pint and done.

From a 16 oz can into a snifter. No date.
A-A normal to aggressive pour produces about one and one-half fingers of mocha-brown head. Retention is so-so, with about a minute passing until the head drops to a cap. The beer is nearly black and still in the glass.
S-I smell a little bit of roasted flavor, lots of oats/oatmeal, some cocoa and milk chocolate, and a bit of cream. It is semi-sweet and simple, but not bad for something that professes to be an oatmeal stout.
T-The taste tracks the smell with lots of oats, a little bit of roast, some chocolate, and a hint of bitterness on the short-ish finish. It is not terribly complex or huge and wild, but it drinks well.
M-The beer is medium to fuller in body with a foamy carbonation that settles softly on the palate.
O-This may not be a beer to sit around and think about, but it drinks well enough and offers a nice hit of sweet oat flavor. It is good-looking to start and while the oats/oatmeal are very obvious and a touch heavy, there is the slightest bit of roasted intrigue in there on the finish. I don't need to drink a ton of this beer, but I wouldn't turn it down if somebody offered.
