Poured into a large Duvel tulip. Near black pour with a thin tan head. Decent lacing, not much sticking to the glass (not really expected).
Aroma has a very well balanced smokey/roasted malt profile. Some very faint earthy/piney hops in there as well. Smoke comes through more in the flavor. Not too sweet or dry, really well balanced. Hops give this beer a bitter bite in the finish.
Not usually a fan of smoked beers due to the bacon/meaty/strong-smokey flavors usually associate with them, but this beer is actually very good.

Appearance: 1/4 inch head that goes quick, high carbonation, dark brown in color, clear
Smell: big fresh rye bread and light smoke
Taste: light rye at the beginning, charcoal, toasted malt, and light smoke in the body, big rye and light bittering hops at the end
Mouthfeel: sweet with a bitter backbone—bitterness shows a bit more at the end, dry, moderate-high carbonation, light bodied
Overall: A nice rye-heavy beer. Wish the smoke was a bit stronger, but the rye alone will make me get this one again. I will get this again, but I am a bigger fan of the smell than the taste.

$6 for an 11oz. pour at Atwood's, Somerville MA. 11 oz. is on odd serving size. I prefer my beer in even numbered servings. I guess 11 oz. is better than 10 oz. though.
Black with a thin head. Half moon, thin skim retention lasts for about half glass.
Smells nice and smokey but obscures all other aromas. Schwarzbiers aren't really that fragrant by themselves though, I suppose.
Tastes pleasantly smokey and pleasantly spicy. All the flavor comes to the palette late. I'm not sure if the body is too thin or the carbonation is too high but something about the mouthfeel doesn't tickle my fiddle.

22oz bottle purchased as a single at Yankee Spirits, Sturbridge, MA.
Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a 1/2" tan head over the clear reddish brown brew. Head recedes gradually, with average to good lacing. Aroma is light smoke coupled with hearty dark maltiness.
Taste begins sweet, goes spicy in the middle, and closes with a revisit and slight amplification of the smoke from the nose, which lingers after the swallow. Mouthfeel is a touch thin, and drinkability is good. Grows on me through the bottle.

Light fizzy head, 1/2 finger lacing, dark brown light ruby color.
Nose smoke, almost campfire, little spicy and fruity rye, syrupy, caramel, molasses, charcoal and hint of powdered chocolate.
Taste syrupy, spicy fruity rye, smoke with a light campfire charcoal taste, molasses, syrupy, light bitterness, fruity. finish is juicy light watery, little rye and smoke, with hints of spicy hops.
Mouth med bod, syrupy, lighter carb.
Overall not bad, a bit too messy IMO, too syrupy, the rye and smoke are OK at first but get a bit too pounding when they continue to add up.

The liquid is brown and light shines through easily. Modest starting head but it leaves a nice blanket of lace on the glass after each sip.
It has a porter-like aroma, light burnt elements and a touch cocoa. Interestingly, I detect some olives.
Thin bodied with a high level of carbonation. Lots of burnt (black patent) malt flavor. Some pepper in the swallow. Dry, short lived aftertaste. Smoky.

Another smoked offering from High and Mighty. This one is a smoked black rye lager. Modeled after the smoked beers found in Bamberg, Germany.
A - Pours a deep, rich black similar to a black IPA, with a light mocha head that is over two fingers and faded to leave a thick, creamy blanket and nice side lacing.
S - Smell is of rich, deep smoke and roasty malts. There is a slight hoppy finish from the nobel hops.
T - Very nice smokey flavors. Not fake, but, rich, like a campfire. A roasty campfire with nice malts and a light bitter finish from the hops. The star of this beer is the roasty smoke flavors though.
M - Nice carbonation on this. It finishes slightly smooth and creamy. Light bitter finish from the hops on the end.
O - Incredibly impressed by this beer. I'm not really a big fan of High and Mighty, but I have enjoyed both Fumata beers, this one especially.
