Appearance: Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a rocky head that leaves a few streaks of lace

Smell: Citrusy and minty hops with some caramel underneath

Taste: Just a hint of caramel, up front, and the citrusy/minty hops take over; some sweetness from the malt builds, after the swallow, though the malt just serves to offset the bitterness of the hops

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Folks in the Pacific NW are just spoiled - they have so many IPAs like this one they just don't know what a good thing they have

Thanks, mdaschaf, for the opportunity

Picked up at beermongers, should be fresh. Bomber to a pint glass

Pours a nice rich golden with a tinge of orange to it. Half a finger of head has kept it's shape. Little carbonation or retention.

Smell is kind of weak, even when it's sort of warm. Hops, come citrus, grapefruit, malts, and some pine. Really muted for some reason

Taste is pretty unique, strong hops kind of cloud the palate with a zesty base malt. Citrus and some caramel and a noticeable alcohol finish. All the flavor really doesn't meld all that well

I'm really mixed about the feel. The initial sip is fizzy and a little bland, not crisp at all. But the finish is incredibly dry, reminds me of Ruination. At the very least it's pretty drinkable and bitter

Overall this stuff is interesting. It's got some strong points but also a lot of weak ones, could be improved in a lot of ways. I can understand why people say this reminds them of Ruination, but really the differences are much more noticeable

Purchased at Albertson's. Appearance is pure gold with some chill haze. Creamy white head that sustains beautifully. Gorgeous head. Can't say enough. Aromas are hoppy with some crisp dry fruit. Very inviting. Very very good. Smooth draw. Balanced as close to perfectly as I've had to this date. Mild bitter aftertaste. Taste and feel of a double IPA in my opinion. Body is velvety and soft. Extremely smooth with a nice weight if that makes sense. This is a real treat.

on-tap, Chucks

Mason pint - hazy orange body, light filmy white head. Old Schoolhouse has a pretty pronounced hop profile - bitter and fierce. Even at only 7.2%, the alcohol radiates in the background. Bitter orange peel, notes of tropical fruit, sugary malt. This is on the heavier side, which is consistent with other IPA's from these guys. A nice range of flavors, but its flaws are pretty rough.

Nice amber color with a nice head as well. Pine, floral aroma, sweet, spicy hoppy middle and a bitter back. Pretty good, I will definitely pick up this bottle again. I picked up this 22 oz @ Whole Foods Seattle (Interbay) for $5.49. I drank half of this 22 oz, corked it, then drank the second half about 12 hours later, the carbonation and taste held up very well.

Pours a dark orange colour, with a tan two finger of head, nice lace. Aroma was earthy hops, light tropical fruits, and a nice floral and fruity hop nose. Taste had a nice medium bitterness, wonderful tropical fruit notes and floral hoppyness. Light crisp feel, good carbonation, slick, little creaminess. Smooth and easy drinking.

Old Schoolhouse can do some nice Pac NW IPAs!

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottled dating but was purchased recently. Pours hazy golden amber color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense off white head with nice retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of orange, grapefruit, pine, toast, biscuit, nuttiness, caramel, mango, herbal, floral, and citrus rind. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity. Taste of grapefruit, pine, orange, caramel, biscuit, mango, toast, herbal, floral, citrus rind, and piney spiciness. Good amount of spicy pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, pine, biscuit, caramel, floral, toast, and herbal spiciness on the finish for a good bit. Pretty nice balance of flavors with a decent bitterness/sweetness balance. Moderately cloying pine bitterness present on the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy, slick, and sticky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very good IPA. Nice hop profile with decent balance; quite smooth to drink. Would have liked to see it a bit drier with less cloying bitterness; but this was still quite enjoyable.

This beer gets better the more I try it. Poured at a good temperature, with a nice, thick, cream-colored head and good lacing. Color is a slightly hazy amber with lots of bubble trails. Aroma is mainly fresh hop with some slight roast malt richness that nicely balances and complements the hops and adds to the completeness of the brew as a whole. Flavor's like nose, dryish, nutty grain, grapefruit with pine and excellent carbonic tang/ hop bitter balance in a nice way along with just enough sweet to level. Body is chewy, no high points, mouth filling, great carbonation - excellent! Finish is very long, good for slow drinking, a little boozy, but very satisfying.
