Took one out of the fridge and poured a small glass - too cold and carbonated, so I let it sit for a good 2 hours and returned to find a much more pleasant brew.
Hops are piney and quite floral (reminds me of Odell's IPA), with some grapefruit tartness and a small, sweet malt backbone holding this together that tastes surprisingly oaky as it warms up. Each sip finishes with just a medium dry finish, not mouth-puckering dryness like some hop-centric IPAs do.
This feels just a little weak for a DIPA (I'd prefer a thicker mouthfeel and a heavier malt presence), but with so many PNW brewers pumping out generic DIPAs, this is one I'll return to.

I really like this beer but am having trouble expressing how I actually feel. I do not know why. Almost mysterious. Big head, awesome color. Hop flavor is ample but cant quite pick up or specify the other flavors where I could be accurate. Overall, a nice hoppy beer, as it should be with the name. Love the label. Keep up the great work. Brew on !!!

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium bronze amber with unexpected small black particles from a not overly aggressive pour, fine three finger ivory head that keeps building long after the pour. Looks nice (except what's up with the particles?). Pleasant aroma of caramel malt, light citrus and piney hops. Flavor follows with a nice caramel malt body with mixed tropical and stone fruit, piney and citrus hops, nicely balanced. Good medium, moderately creamy body with good mouth feel. A nicely integrated, hoppy but well malt-supposted IPA. Flavorful and great drinking. There isn't as much bright herbal element as I'd expect from the hop bill present here. This and the particulates mentioned earlier may suggest that this could be a slightly old bottle. Scuttlebutt does themselves and their customers a disservice by stamping a mysterious code (with no "12" or "13" visible for a hint) for estimating age. Since they are already going for the effort to mark them, why not make it a clear date? All that being said, if this is an old bottle, it's still a very nice drinking IPA and fully worthy. Good enough I'll seek it out fresh and try again.
