The good: The selection is quite nice. 40+ beers on tap, many of them beers I was quite excited to see listed. I had a Smuttynose Big A IPA (served in a Smuttynose Big Beer series glass) and a Southampton Double Witte. The Big A was fantastic. My drinking companion had a DFH 90 minute, a Smuttynose Imperial Stout (again served in the corresponding glassware), and a Delerium Noel. Selection was weighted towards IPAs/DIPAs/Pale Ales. Every draught beer was craft, with the exception of Guinness.

Service was very good despite the fact that the bar was crowded. The waitresses were friendly and attentive. Unfortunately I didn't have any questions about the beer so I couldn't test their knowledge.

The not so good: A bit pricey. Most pints are $6+ and my friend's Delerium was $8.25. Significantly more expensive than the Sierra Grille (which is right around the corner).

I wasn't a huge fan of the atmosphere. I went on a summer weeknight, and was expecting the clientèle to be composed of primarily of beer-geek types. To my surprise, the bar was very crowded, and seemed to mainly consist of typical Northampton hipsters. While I am very happy that The Dirty Truth seems to have achieved great popularity, I prefer a more laid-back atmosphere. It was so loud in TDT that it was difficult to carry on a normal conversation.

Fantastic service, wonderful atmosphere, imaginative menu with super fresh, local
ingredients (I only wish they had a few more vegetarian options, but the ones they do have are excellent)...and the tap list!!! wow! At least 40 taps, and the selection is pretty amazing.
They always have a great balance of local breweries and breweries from around the US and the world. I've been lucky enough to be there when they had what seemed like a total surprise tapping of KBS, Backwoods Bastard, a Maine Beer Co. tap takeover, and many other treasures.
So, so good!

This place is sleek and hip. 40 or so taps with good rotating selection. Good beers that aren't flat, good food but limited, kinda knowledgeable bartenders that are short with you and sometimes snarky. But overall a solid place for good beer. The crowd is mixed with some hipsters who nurse their $7 beer for over and hour.
