Thanks to my homey naproxen for the hook up with this one. I am a sucker for smoked beers--let us see how this one plays out.

A-Deep, dark, black brown with a thin tan head. Head reduced to a thin veil and left spotty lace.

S-Light smoke, dark roasted malts and the most sublte of sweet maple syrup notes. All in all nice, but a little disappointing.

T-Mildly rich, bitter dark roasted malts nicely doused with maple sweetness and a touch of light smoke. Nothing overwhelming here but in total it all works very nicely together.

M-Medium bodied, smooth and bittersweet. Maple syrup addition adds anice touch and the light smokiness a bit of mystery.

D-A nice beer that I think could be stellar with some tweaking. I feel this is missing some umph...especially if this is supposed to be a Blatic Porter. Not very Baltic IMHO but rather an interestingly concocted straight up porter. Regardless the growler went down without a fight.

Real Ale Fest at Clark's Ale House. Dark with some decent lacing. Sweetish porter. Average mouthfeel overall. Some well-roasted parts, but overall all so-so drinkability. Not my favourite cask today.A bunch of ideas that did not come together, and likely explaining it as one of the last casks left.

Had this on cask at Clark's Ale House's Cask Ale Fest.

Poured a dark brown with a thin finger of frothy tan head. Lacing is good.

Smells of roasted malts and the faint sweetness of maple.

Taste is very interesting, starts very bitter with dark roasted malts and some spice, finishes with a smokey maple sweetness.

Mouthfeel is heavy bodied, very smooth. The maple definately takes the edge off the bitterness of the hop and roasted malts.

Drinkability is good. If I knew I could ever find this again I'd get this in the winter.

Extra notes : The tasting sheet sys - A full bodied robust smoked porter made with an addition of local, fresh maple syrup from Critz farms in Cazenovia. The hint of smokiness comes from a very light-handled use of German smoked malt.
