Enjoyed on tap at the brewpub with the brewer Tim Butler. The Aphrodiasac gruit ale with a big dose of yeast, that now overpowers it in smell, in taste, and also bulks up the mouthfeel. Unfiltered, more head on a light brown body. This is the more popular version, but it is way too yeasty for me, and the sourness has all but disapeared.

Had a couple pints at DBA in Brooklyn. The hazy, pale yellow beer was crisp and very drinkable on the hot summer. The wheat was soft and subtle, like a good wit, but the spicing was bigger and crisp, giving the beer an American edge. So yeah, it's a departure from a Hoegaarden or Allagash White, but it's a tasty beer worth checking out.

Beer review from 8/17/2012: on tap at Old Field Inn - pours hazy piss yellow color with a creamy 1 finger white head, fading slowly and leaving good spotty lacing.

Smells of clove, ginger, yeast, lemon, wheat, grass, hay and spices and herbs; the clove and ginger dominate the aroma, which smells like a cross between a hefe and a Belgian. Very odd nose that's too strong with those 2 smells.

Tastes like it smells, with clove, ginger, yeast, lemon, wheat, floral hops, grass, hay, spices like pepper and herbs like tea leaf or potpourri; not too good taste-wise, and almost borders on too herbal.

Mouthfeel is creamy and smooth, with very light carbonation, a light body and a tart aftertaste that has way too much of the clove and ginger. Great picture on the tap handle, but that was the best part of this beer.

Served on-tap at The GIngerman in New York, NY

A: Pours a very lightly hazy orange in color with moderate amounts of visible carbonation and some apricot highlights. The beer has a half finger tall fluffy white head that reduces to a couple of small to medium sized thin patches, some very thin film covering about 50% of the remaining surface of the beer, and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light to moderate aromas of wheat, citrus - lemon and orange rind, and spices - coriander and ginger stand out.

T: Upfront there is a moderate wheat malt flavor underneath stronger flavors of lemon citrus, ginger, and lavender. Underneath there is a light amount of honey sweetness along with the traditional flavors of orange peel and coriander.

M: Light bodied with light to moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth.

O: Easy to drink and refreshing on a hot day - I enjoyed the addition of the ginger for spiciness. The ginger made this one stand out from many of others in the style, making it a bit unique.
