A - Red orange amber hue with a finger or twos worth of off-white head that sticks around. Nice lacing too.

S - Not a lot in the nose. Slightly malty sweet and some hints of fruit.

T - Biscuits and toast. A subtle and complex malt body. Goes in with a slight caramel sweetness and down with a slight hop bitterness.

M - Light to medium body. Crisp and extremely drinkable.

O - An excellent amber ale. I've been disappointed with this style lately. I feel that many are over hopped which retracts from malty complexities that should be most prominent. This beer is to style and also to my specific taste as it is more toasty and less sweet.

oddly enough this was on tap at smokey bones near great northern. the pours is clear and very light red for an amber, no dark caramel color or anything, an inch of white foam rests on top. the nose is really quite boring, a little malt sweetness, generic and plain, but not much more. the flavor is good though, balanced, with a little hop kick on both the front and back, a very american style amber. the malt profile is as light as it lookes, subtle and semisweet, with some toffee and biscuit notes on the finish. feel works well, light as hell in body, would like to see more, especially in the winter months, but the carbonation is ample and the finish is delicate and quick in a quiet way. overall better than average but not the first choice when at the brewery. a servicable amber, but not a good illustration of what empire can do.
