Bottled June 2012, just hit stores today. Very fresh.
A: Pours a dark amber with a big effervescent tan head. Takes a long time for it to fade away. Plentiful lacing left behind.
S: Quite hoppy, loaded with grapefruit initially and then follows some tropical fruit - mainly pineapple and a hint of apricot.
T: Again, grapefruit up front. Turns into a sweeter caramel in the middle with the pineapple. Then the grapefruit bitterness comes back strong in the finish. There is a herbal hop quality throughout as well, but especially in the finish, mixing in with the bitter grapefruit and amplifying it.
M: Medium bodied, smooth and very drying on the back end due to the lingering hop bitterness. Almost get a little bit of hop oil coating effect.
O: One of the best hoppy reds I've had. I'd put this a little above Lagunitas Imperial Red but below Zoe and Nugget Nectar. Delicious, well balanced hoppy red.

Poured into a tulip glass from a 22oz bomber.
Pours a nice dark amber color its almost a muddy brown. There is a nice ecru light eggshell white color. Nice sticky lacing as the brew goes down.
Aroma is of pungent grassy hops. SOme slight grapefruit and tangerine citrus notes are present from the alpha acids. However the nice thick rich malt body is very well profiled in the nose with notes of caramel.
Flavor starts off with strong caramel notes. Malty notes a-plenty with a delicious and enticing spicy hop backbone. Notes of citrus and dank flowery notes are present. The brew is pretty robust both on the grain and the hops. Nice crisp mouthfeel with notes of resinous hops and a sticky yet bitter dryness.
