Pours a mostly clear red tinged amber, billowing thick cream colored head, big splotches of thick lace on the glass. Smell: big caramel, fruit note, little leafiness and pine. Sweet, malt dominated aroma. Taste: alcohol hit, caramel, dried stone fruit, hops start to cut through the sweetness... pine and a little citrus rind. Sugary. Syrupy into creamy then bails into hop soup and thins out into a bitter end. Bitter, sure, but muted hop flavor and aroma. Not so good.

Thanks to GRG1313 for sharing this one at his tasting.

Pours a clear copper with a foamy khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Tiny dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, caramel, and citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with caramel and citrus zest flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a solid citrus forward hop presence.

CBC - Red God, poured into a DFH Spiegelau IPA glass.

Look - Pours a dark cloudy caramel amber red hued with a small head and good ropey lacing.

Smell - Piney hops, amber/red malts with some breadiness. Somewhat faint aroma, not bad. Some alcohol in the nose.

Taste - Hoppy and piney with definite alcohol, pretty good balance.

Mouthfeel - Heavy-medium bodied with low carbonation. Hot and boozy. OK drinkability, starts to falter a bit here.

Overall - Not bad, a little over the top. Alcohol content detracts from the quality here slightly.

Poured from the bottle into a Dogfish Head IPA glass.

A dull but dark copper amber and brown body, opaque with lots of rising carbonation. Head is huge and fluffy creamy, light tan and evenly proportioned with a giant island cap to match, it just will not quit.

Nose is toasty malt, and faint biscuit, but a good sense of orange and brown sugar. Slightly soapy profile though, but a great sense of cookie and brown bread action to match.

Palate is quite interesting. An interesting mouthfeel that at first feels quite light, but then gets bigger and almost fruit juice like bursting. Fruit action takes some mellow tangerine, we may have the fade here, but comes with a nice touch of caramel to go with it. Juice like hints of orange, but there's no bitterness that comes through on this at all either. Sweetness is toned nicley and in control

We may be a bit faded, but still enjoying this, but this beer deserves a revisit for me. A good juicy take on imperial amber with a nice thick malt sweetness, and fruit hop citrus quenching delivery.

Pours a burnished red colour, furious bead on the sides. Big, generous head - fluffy with sticky lace. Nice.

Smells awesome, loads of resinous floral hop notes. Rosewater, musk, citrus, pine bark and a touch of raspberry. Ooh yeah that makes me want to drink up, for sure.

Loads of malt underlying, very nutty with hop resins early. Citrus pith and pine resin, lots of sharp oils and acid. Quite a lot of floral late-hopping character to counterbalance, so it's alright, but no denying it is very sharp. Beautiful sweet malt underneath though and a touch of alcohol heat. Pleasant.

Undeniable alcohol heat. Nice, full texture but a very big hop pull.

Pleasant big hoppy red ale. I think one of the best I've had from the east coast, and not just because the hops are very west coast in character. It's because it packs a big malty punch under it all, showing it has respect for the power of the hops it's using. Great job.
